I have seen a lot of nice things from Fields. I think his fielding is better than predicted, he looks like he will have good power, he seems to hit better we RISP and he is not overwhelmed by the jump to MLB. The strikeouts are a problem as they were in the minors.

I still want to hang on to hope, but consider these numbers for a minute. Looking at the last few years it will take around 95 wins to make it into the playoffs. The Sox are 39-47 right now with 76 games left to play. That means that they will need 56 more wins to get to 95 and their post all star record will then need to be 56-20. That's 36 games over .500 for a team that hasn't put a significant winning streak together all season. I'm normally the eternal optimist but barring some miracle this season is completely over.

I agree GD. Since that first week or two, he's looked like he belongs here. Any coincidence that they announced yesterday that Crede was starting rehab?

I heard the Ranger say the Sox have the 2nd worst record (in all of baseball) since the all-star break last season. Only the Devil Dogs have been worse. I like the optimism Torch! but that ship has long sailed.
