Keppinger probably could in a pinch, but he sucks at 2nd base. Tyler Greene is the backup SS until Angel Sanchez is off the DL.

Tyler Greene is in the lineup tonight, Frank, but Alexei Ramirez is too. The changes are in BOLD type. As for Angel Sanchez, I think he'll be off the DL real soon.

The White Sox Starting 9:
30 Alejandro De Aza LF (L)
10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R)
51 Alex Rios RF (R)
12 Conor Gillaspie 3B (L)
14 Paul Konerko 1B (R)
28 Dewayne Wise CF (L)
1 Tyler Greene 2B (R)
21 Tyler Flowers C (R)
44 Jake Peavy P (R)

As for the Mets:
1 Jordany Valdespin CF (S)
28 Dan Murphy 2B (L)
5 David Wright 3B (R)
21 Lucas Duda LF (L)
44 John Buck C (R)
23 Mike Baxter RF (L)
29 Ike Davis 1B (L)
11 Ruben Tejada SS (R)
53 Jeremy Hafner P (R)

Tonight he is. Adam Dunn is nowhere to be found in tonight's lineup. Ditto for Jeff Keppinger, who has to be an early candidate for the All-Disappointment Team. He didn't struggle like this before his arrival as a free agent.

In Dunn's case in particular, let's not forget they still don't have the DH in the NL ballpark. Otherwise, he'd probably be in there for sure.

Pull the lineup out of a hat, sans Rios 3rd and the pitcher 9th. Try anything to get something going.

Just wait until 2B Gordon Beckham & LF Dayan Viciedo return to this lethargic lineup possibly in the next couple of weeks.

This team's offensive stats, described after one of the White Sox losses in Washington by the White Sox Radio Network's Chris Rongey, were frightening then. They're just as frightening now.

I mentioned that neither Adam Dunn nor Jeff Keppinger are in RV's lineup tonight vs. the Mets' Jeremy Hafner. Up and down this Sox roster, you've got guys whose on-base percentage are as low as their respective batting average. In Keppinger's case, he's got a higher BA (.191) than OBP (.182) & has yet to walk.

While nobody knows if Beckham & Viciedo's respective returns will jumpstart a stagnant offense, but I think RV's hands are all but tied at this point with 6 players currently on the DL and having to also carry an extra pitcher and an extra outfielder at times already through the first month to 6 weeks.

They have 2 Opening Day starters and 2 starting pitchers currently on the DL. I didn't think this team was capable of winning 90 games, but there are very few teams in MLB that would be able to overcome that. Not that this 1 hit under 200 OP% is acceptable, but still. Ventura doesn't have a lot of options other than to trot the same guys out there and hope for the best.

Frank, wasn't that Ozzie's problem, too? There were times when Mt. Guillen erupted after bad White Sox losses & kept shuffling the cards with his lineup. Right now, it's like shuffling chairs on the Titanic.

How can your BA be higher than your OBP? Doesnt every hit mean you got on base?

It's a statistical oddity. If #7 Jeff Keppinger, Miami, FL would start taking walks, that OBP would go higher than his BA. Even though it doesn't count as an official at bat, walks are supposed to be as good as hits.

I suppose that makes sense.

I've really enjoyed watching most of Jake's starts over the last 2 seasons.
