You've been getting a lot of heat lately and some deservedly so. However you deserve huge kudos for scouting and negotiating to get Danks (and I guess Massett, we'll see) for that AAAA pitcher McCarthy. Danks reminds me of a younger Buehrle. Great mound presence and nuts of steel. Buehrle was the same way when he first came up as a reliever. He didn't seem to care he was "in the bigs" or facing big name hitters, he just went out and got the job done. Hell of a move in the offseason picking this guy up. He looks to be a hell of a pitcher for quite a while.

As Harvey Keitel said in Pulp Fiction, let's not go sucking each other's dicks just yet fellas. Danks has an ERA in the high 4's, has had lots of control problems and does not get through the sixth inning much to often for my liking.

He has been adequate for a rookie, but nothing phenomenal.

Everything you say is true, but I have been, for the most part pleasantly surprised with Denks. He's had some rough stretches, but I would be surprised if we didn't see continued improvement from next season. Then again, perhaps my expectations are so low for any 5th starter the White Sox have that any non-disaster performance is actually a solid start.

True, but he has much better control (strikeout to walk ratio) than McCarthy does and I think you'd agree that after watching him pitch compared to McCarthy he just looks like a more poised and talented pitcher with MUCH more upside. He's better now and will be much better than Brandon in the future from the looks of it. When Danks gets beat or gives up some runs in a start, it never seems to me like he's getting his ass kicked. He's still in control and goes after hitters. McCarthy on the other hand looks like a boy amongst men when getting hit and completely outclassed. Haven't seen much of that at all with Danks and that's saying a lot for a young guy in his first stint in the bigs. He might not be the end all but this trade looks like a huge steal right now especially considering we also got Massett.

I think the trade became a steal when Danks made the club out of spring training. If Texas thought he has going to start on the MLB club this year, they would have never made the trade.

I have seen good things from Danks as well. However, he still has a lot of work to do.

Even thought the seas have been choppy, I like Danks and his potential. I'd much rather have him than McCarthy.

I did not like the McCarthy for Danks/Masset trade one bit. Not because I didn't think they were good pitchers, but because I didn't think they would be able to contribute this year. I thought the Sox could compete for the WS and having a 22 yr old rookie 5th starter is not a recipe for success.

I was wrong. Danks has pitched very well and I'm excited to watch him progress into a potential ace of the staff. Then I can watch Kenny trade him because Scott Boras is his agent.

danks isnt gonna win a cy young in the near future, but for a rookie 5th starter in this day and age, you cant ask for anything more. and lets face it, despite his higher ERA and his struggles, he could easily have about 5 or 6 more wins than he does. he has given it up at times, but he's also thrown brilliantly to have the sox give him very very little or no run support

Guys, there is no way the Sox were gonna trade for AROD knowing he had an out in his contract this year.

Hell, the Sox would have traded for him for this year and the Yankees would have resigned him once he's a free agent this off season.

If he was locked up then yes the Sox might have wanted him. The Yanks would have paid a little bit of the salary too.

As we stand, if the Sox really want him they can bid for him this off season without having to give up anything for him.

That was the talk during the offseason. I would have thrown anyone else they wanted into that deal. Sometimes you can over value your players. When the best player in the game (maybe the best player ever by the time his career is over) is on the market at a bargain price you have to go and get him. Looks like Jerry's GM's (Paxson and Williams) don't really understand this.

There was that talk, but I don't know if that anything was just more than rumors. Obviously, Kenny likes ARod - so does probably every GM in the league, but with him getting $25-$30 a season, that's not happening here unless the White Sox increase their payroll by that much to account for it, and I don't see that happening.
