Terrible game to lose. The bullpen is atrocious.

I agree with those who say the attendance issue does not matter. Who cares?

It does seem to matter to management tho when they use low attendance as an excuse.

Game would have been won had Ventura chosen the correct closer.

Far superior. You all owe Stony an apology

Is that an actual thing or are you just making it up?

Yes, real. I don't remember if it was anyone who matters but some scout called him that

As crazy as it sounds some say Contreras was the best in the world when he was playing in Cuba

I remember reading that, IIRC it was more along the lines of "Best Hitter not yet in the MLB" which is a little different, probably still hyperbolic however.

And I see my guy Semien went yard 8)

I gave you full credit earlier in the thread

So it had noting to do with the Jones and Cleto giving up 3 runs in the 7th? Or Belasario giving up a HR in the 8th?

Lindstrom was not good, but he should have had at least a 3 run cushion to work with.

When was this? I have a very hard time believing that when Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, and Pedro Martinez were all in their primes.

I'd have to review the time but I believe it was post ASG 2005 through pre ASG 2006. He was absolutely unhittable.

I believe he won 17 regular season games in a row during that span. In between he was the bell cow for the Sox staff that lead them to an 11-1 playoff run and a WS championship.

The brilliance gets lost because it spanned two seasons instead of being encapsulated in a single season.

He was 18-1 overall with an ERA right around 3. That 1 loss was in game 1 of the ALCS. IIRC, he went a full calender year between regular season losses. He likely did that at age 38 or 39, even though he is listed as being born in 1971.

Second half of 05 thru first half of 06

He had a 24-3 run including a 7 win September and 3 playoff wins including a World Series win. Began 06 9-0
