Kind of a brash statement with 70 games to go and him not having a great year. Id throw at Cabrera next game for this

"I found it very interesting," Verlander told reporters Saturday, according to MLB.com. "Really, when I saw that trade, I thought that they made that trade for us. No doubt about it in my mind."

The Tigers sent the A's home after AL Division Series Game 5 losses in both 2012 and '13. Verlander beat Oakland with dominant performances each time.
The 2011 AL Cy Young Award winner sees the trade as Oakland general manager Billy Beane's attempt to enable his team go all the way in 2014.

"If they want to win the World Series, they're envisioning that they have to go through us, and, even though it's been two fantastic series, it's been heartbreaking for them the last two years," Verlander said.

Given the other teams in the AL Central...unless KC or Cleveland cleans out their farm system for David Price.

KC is 4 back with 70 to play.

I mean, DET is the favorite, but Im surprised no one made a thing out of this.

Pretty bold fighting words. KC could improve and / or get lucky.

Detroit always retaliates, even if it looks pretty clear that the opposing pitcher lost the handle and didn't mean it, man.

Tampa Bay nicked one of their hitters, Victor Martinez, in the shin the other day. Course, first guy up for the Rays next go around
is Longoria and their pitcher plants the first pitch in his shoulder. The Tampa Bay broadcast crew commented that they think it's Cabrera/V-Mart
telling these young guys to retaliate. Party because Detroit has a new manager this year and it was the same way under Leyland (according to the TB crew) but also
because those guys seem to be that way:

Tigers swept Oakland in Detroit right before the Shark trade. So maybe Verlander has a point.
