Pretty much Konerko and Larmer were my guys. I liked them a lot and appreciated them. And if you don't blow me. What the hell does it matter anyway. They are my guys not yours.

I actually still think it will be cool for Jerry to give him the ball back Saturday eve!

If he gave him a ball, it would probably be a fake and he would keep the real one for himself.

What was the real point of Konerko playing this season? He hit .210 (to date) and played sparringly on a team with no real hopes of contending. Had the team been one with hopes of winning a division, if not a pennant or World series title, it might have made sense to give him the chance to be a part of that. But where was the sense in bringing back a washed up player, to a losing team?

Steve, if I remember right, didn't Sandberg have about 3 or 4 groaners at the end?

First off, no doubt in my mind, Konerko owns the most memorable hit in Chicago baseball history over the past 70 years, with Banks' 500th and the Sandberg's HRs against Sutter coming in second and third.

His stats show off decently in the steroid era. Personally I don't see him as a user, but who knows. His power stats did suddenly skyrocket in 2004 and 2005.

While not a HoF player, he brought something more important to this city in 2005 than personal stats and I think he and the other stars from that team deserve some form of tribute. Just not a statue. Statues need to be reserved for players who transcended the game. Konerko didn't. I think Sox fans need to remember how much they ripped him apart in this town pre-2005 and post-2005. I realize some of this was due to a thumb injury, but there were also rips on his attitude and his inability to beat out a turtle in a foot race.

Overall, really good player and a guy I can clap for even if he isn't on my team.

I truly thought the Konerko Night was a couple nights ago until a Sox fan told me today that it was tomorrow.

The only saving grace is that I pride myself on not knowing anything about the White Sox since my guy Beckham was unexpectedly dismissed. So, I took comfort in that.

don't try and take awat the away from a great night for a great man....and cerebral too!
