Schwarber, Castro, Soler, and McKinney for Sale.

That's a nice offer, but not good enough though it's pretty much impossible to trade a guy like Sale and get equal value.

I think it's too much. I'd hold McKinney back for another high-level guy.

But that's my "all-in" trade offer because that's selling the farm.

Bryant or Russell would have to be in a Sale trade.

Sale's value is even greater than David Price right now due to age and contract considerations. I don't think the Cubs make that kind of offer but I think that is a reasonable expectation on a return. They would probably have to exchange Castro for Russell in that as well.

Would you really be troubled with losing those parts as a Cub fan? Schwarber is the only one who looks like a top player in that mix and there is a strong possibility he does not pan out as an NL player

Maybe I'd try to hold Schwarber back and work Vogelbach in there somewhere as the "guy who can't play in the NL" piece with 2 young pro-level, good contract position players and McKinney or anybody else the Sox want.

Theo's been trying to sprinkle his magic dust on a Vogelbach trade for over a year

would the Cubs be willing to trade Schwarber for Sale AND Rodon? Would that be fair?

Not unless they also throw in Robertson.

So they're not going to try to win this season? You guys love saying "Wait 'til next year!"

They aren't going to trade anybody even marginally important for a better chance to win the WC game and the right to then lose in 4 to the Cardinals.

The Lakes and Olts of the world will be available, and used to pick up some bench strength. Alcantara and a good class-A arm (Myrtle Beach is kicking the Carolina League around) will yield a LOOGY for the pen.
