Guillen used to destroy young players when he was with the Sox. He is not who they need.
I think there was a young guy in their minor leagues who has won a few awards as a manager and I wouldn't be surprised if he is on their short list when Ricky meets his end.
You have to remember JR both with the WS and Bulls, he refuses to negotiate with agents for non players. That is why they never get experienced guys with options. Both teams are usually employing first time field and general managers.

Last White Sox coach was Jeff Torborg, who had a little over a year experience in the 70s, didn't manage for 10 years, and then took the White Sox job.
He is very open that he will not negotiate with a agents for non players. I seem to remember when Skiles was working on his second contract this became an issue. It shows you the kind of person JR is. He know he is at an advantage as a negotiator as he is a master of it even among people who do it professionally. It's kind of evil for him to do it with someone who has no experience. I've always contended that when he knows talent is represented by an attorney that it is an ethical violation for him as a lawyer to be contacting the person directly. But, such is life. No one else makes the argument.
If you remember though he tried to do that shit with Horace Grant and Scottie Pippen. I have a feeling the union shut that shit right down. GM and field managers don't have the union to protect them.
