i think they did what people thought they would do this year. Good year. Improved, surpassed 70 wins, developed some youngsters.
Hopefully next year is better with Kopach but who knows.
This year was a big surprise to me. The turnarounds with Giolito and Anderson was spectacular. McCann came out of nowhere to be one of the better two way catchers in all of baseball. I expected Moncada to be an all-star and he had an all-star season. JImenez was a complete surprise and his future is amazing. Yeah there were some disappointments. Palka/is a bust. Losing Rodon and Kopech hurt. Much of the bull-pen was a cluster fuck but Colome and a couple of other guys were excellent.
From where they were in 2018, this was a good turnaround and with Robert, Mercedes, and Madrigal, Kopech, Cease, and a few others in the wings the improvement will continue in 2020. But it WILL NOT BE ENOUGH. Two very good starting pitchers and a veteran right fielder are mandatory and this is where Reinny has to make a statement and go after a championship starting next season.
I think that the excitement is going to be great on the south side IF Reinny makes his move to a championship. There should be many happy sox fans in the stands next season.
