The Score 670 Chicago reports that the White Sox are close to acquiring John Lannan from the Nationals.

It's unknown just who the Chicago would be sending over in the deal, but this is Jim Bowden we're dealing with, so anything is possible. Lannan is arbitration eligible through 2013, and he can keep the ball on the ground, which would make him a nice fit in Chicago.

Not a bad guy to slide into the #5 slot.

Looking at his numbers, he's decent but not a stud. Nice to have him as your 5th. Don't get me wrong.

That ERA will be higher in the American League.

He's a 23 yr old lefty. I'm sure he'll go in the rotation right away and IF Contreras comes back he'll be the long man. Jim Bowden LOVES outfielders. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brian Anderson being moved in this deal.

That would cost a Josh Fields type prospect. Lannon is 23 years old, solid MLB numbers, and a lefty.

The rumor I am hearing is Lannan and possibly LoDuca going to the Sox for Swisher and a prospect or two. Can't validate if it's legit or not but that is what I am hearing on other sites.

I'm not familiar with John Lannan, but I know the White Sox have a hole in the bullpen with Nick Masset now Cincinnati-bound.

For now Wasserman becomes the middleman. He's been better since getting his ass kicked early in the year. Also, Carrasco has been solid.

and you probably won't have to get familiar with him. It wouldn't surprise me if the dumbasses at the Score tried to get the 'scoop' and fucked it up.

According to Nationals writer Bill Ladson, Washington is discussing Joel Hanrahan, not John Lannan, with the White Sox.

That makes a lot more sense. The White Sox would prefer a reliever anyway, and Lannan is someone the Nationals look at as a building block. Hanrahan won't come cheap, either, but he is a more realistic target.

Actually, I think Jesse Rogers and Mike Murphy mentioned Hanrahan's name last hour as a name the Sox are looking at. I still :? :? have no clue about John Lannan (?).

Jesse at his finest...and later on we will see boquets thrown his way about the job he did today.

I've heard both names, even apart from Jesse.
