This is the only Hawk that I recognize. All others are pretenders.

Believe it or not, I've heard Ken "Hawk" Harrelson's name mentioned as a potential Ford C. Fricke Award nominee for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Seems hard to believe, but this will be Harrelson's 20th straight year(!) as the TV voice of the Chicago White Sox.

I absolutely believe it. Hawk is a fantastic broadcaster. I know some don't like his homerism and hawkisms (I'm in this crowd) but nobody can say he's a bad broadcaster. His play by play and reads are flawless and he's able to describe the action on the field unlike any play by play guy I've ever heard. Add in the fact that he's a former player and not a 'trained' play by play guy and it makes his ability even more impressive. In my book he definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame as a broadcaster.

There are homer broadcasters in there. That doesn't preclude any inductions.

Dawson was the 3rd best player on a team that never won dick (the Expos) and the best player on a shitty team for only two seasons (Cubs, 1987-1988).

Yes.

Jon Francis Koncak (born May 17, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is an American former professional basketball player. A 7'0" center from Southern Methodist University, Koncak was selected with the 5th pick in the 1985 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Koncak spent ten seasons with the Hawks (1985-1995), mainly in a reserve role, then concluded his career with the Orlando Magic. He retired in 1996 with career totals of 3,520 points and 3,856 rebounds.

Though a reliable defender for much of his career, Koncak is perhaps best remembered for the six-year, US$ 13 million contract he received from the Hawks in 1989 - an unprecedented total for a reserve. The deal was roundly criticized since it paid Koncak more than Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. His large contract prevented the Hawks from taking part in any other major free agent signings for several years. As a result, he earned the derisive nickname "Jon Contract."

On February 23, 2008 SMU retired Koncak's jersey.

I understand that but felt the need to include it so I wouldn't get the inevitable 'you only like him because he broadcasts for the Sox.'

I absolutely get that, but from when Tom Pacoreick left to when Steve Stone came in, I had a really hard time listening to Hawk, and I love the Sox.

I think it's safe to say you couldn't stand Darrin Jackson working sidecar with Harrelson before shifting to 670 The SCORE & the White Sox Radio Network last season w/Ed Farmer...

What bothered me about their partnership started early on when Hawk would shoot down valid DJ points because they were different from his own opinion, and it only got worse when Hawk finally browbeat DJ into agreeing with everything he said. I think the addition of Stone has caused Hawk to raise his game, and there is a level of respect that Hawk has for Stone that he never had for DJ.

And, Hawk still has 2 legs. Plus he invented the batting glove.

I'm not saying Hawk should be in the HOF, but why is it so bad that he is a "homer"? Yes the whole twins curse thing is annoying, but he does dish out some criticisms. I want my guy to root for my team, not come across as a national guy.

Can I have the two expos that were better?

Please dont bring up Crack Raines or Gary "kodak kid" Carter.

You could maybe make a case for Raines. But dawsons defense puts him over the top

He was clearly better than both of them. in 1983. When he batted .299 with 32 homeruns 113 RBI and 25 SB's

or his .918 OPS in 81

Gary Carter was overrated and a me first dick
