How about we get something worked out with him ?

He's a gold-glove caliber 3B, a great clutch hitter, and he's getting better and better.

This isn't KC - we can sign our best players.

Crede's toast. Kenny loathes Scott Boras and Crede's back is in horrible shape for the age he is. And he has herpes (so says Panther).

Good luck Joe.

The relationship with Boras is the big concern...As far as the back is concerned, he doesn't need surgury, and even Kenny Williams says the injury is way overblown.

The herpes could be a problem though.

White Sox free agent list after the upcomiong season is:
F. Garcia
J. Uribe
M. Buerhle
J. Dye
R. Mackowiak
T. Iguchi (not sure on his status)

Crede is arbitration eligible for the next 2 years and gets free agency after the 2008 season.
From that list it looks to me like the Sox have more pressing concerns than 3b where they have groomed a replacement.

Mustang, they are grooming people in manyof the positions that you list.

Freddy-Mc Carthy
Buhrle- Broadway/Haeger, although I don't think they will lose Mark
Dye- Sweeney

They may be looking to deal Uribe. Iguichi will be a 33 year old 2B with average skills. He should be easily resigned. Mackowiak wants to play in his hometown. If the Sox offer him a little bit below market he would take it.

Dolphin,
I agree.
I'm just pointing out that some of those positions may need to be filled a full year before Crede will have the ability to walk.

I think the hope with the pitching staff is that Brandon McCarthy takes a starting job next season, and runs with it. You'd still have Garland, and Contreras as well, and possibly they give the #5 job to Lance Broadway or another young pitcher like that with big potential.

Dye needs to be resigned, and I think they can work something out with Iguchi.

Attention Kenny:

Win now or they may 'die trying' for many years to come..
