A devastating loss for the Twins. Not only did they lose the game but it looks like Scott Baker will be going on the DL. They also burned tonights starter (Nick Blackburn) for an inning and sunday's starter (Brian Duensing) for two innings. The Twins had to call up triple A starter Matt Fox (6-9 3.95) to start tonight against the Rangers who welcome Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz back to the lineup.
The Twins have also used relievers Jon Rauch and Matt Guerrier 3 days in a row and Randy Flores and Jessie Crain two days in a row. Matt Capps and the great Brian Fuentes (who has pitched to 1 batter since his aquisition almost a week ago) were both unavailable last night.
This is the time for the Sox to make their move.
Not to mention, I just got this notice in my fantasy league:
Morneau (concussion) was moved to the 60-day DL from the 15-day DL, ESPN 1500 am Twin Cities reports. This doesn't necessarily indicate a setback since in any scenario he wouldn't return before Sept. 8 when he's be eligible to return from the 60-day DL. However, it increasingly looks like Morneau won't return this season since he hasn't been able to participate in a full workout with the Twins. Morneau was told Monday to stay home until Friday, but the Twins didn't update his condition.
