The more I think about the Garcia trade(and potential Garland trade) the more confused I get. I like the Garcia trade(I don't like the Garland trade) but I'm wondering how it will affect the roster next season. I'm pretty sure Floyd is out of options which means he has to be part of the 25 man roster.

My question is: whose spot does he take? I had the bullpen looking like this: Jenks, MacDougal, Thornton, Aardsma, Logan (or a different lefty) and Haeger.
1) Are they going to keep Floyd over Haeger?
2) Are they going to keep Floyd over Aardsma?
3) Are they going to trade Garland and put McCarthy AND Floyd in the rotation? My thoughts....

1) Haeger doesn't have anything else to prove in the minors and would make an excellent long reliever/spot starter.
2) They traded Cotts for for 2 relievers who can't make the major league roster?
3) It would be hard for me to buy into the 'win now' talk with a rotation of Contreras, Buehrle, Vasquez, McCarthy and Floyd.

I have faith in Kenny but his acquisition of Floyd and possible trade of Garland has me confused about what his intentions really are.

I have to agree with all of that.

I'm really not buying this whole 'win now attitude" either, but I continue to state that I will hold my opinions until the offseason is over. I still have faith that something is cooking under Kenny's hat right now.

Don't be surprised to see these two young pitchers get traded for a Carl Crawford.

I'm not sure Boone Logan is going to make the roster - he sucked last year, lefty or not.

Floyd still has one more option, but I think he'll start the season in the bullpen - if they don't trade Buerhle.

That's where I see the issue - I think Kenny would want Floyd to become a starter as soon as possible as to not waste a year of his MLB service.

Buerhle is not going to be on the White Sox after next season - way too expensive for the Sox to sign, so I still think they will move him for another top pitching prospect

I don't see the White Sox trading young pitching they are high on for Crawford - that goes against their idea of stocking the starting rotation and bullpen for that matter) with as many young arms as possible.

ageed ugeth. maybe not this year, but my thoughts are eventually some of these younger kids that kenny has recently acquired will be moved for an impact player on the MLB roster.

i doubt it will be crawford now...but come mid to late july...thats a definite possibility.

Floyd has one more option yet. His MLB time does not toll if he gets sent down there for the year. I see the Sox as having a great competition at AAA next year to see who is the next starter in 2008. Broadway, Floyd and Haeger can win a position by earning it.

I think the Sox are trying to sign Buhrle. The recent bullshit by much of the league has changed the discussion dramatically. I don't even know what the market value would be for Buhrle today.

The Sox simply lost confidence in Cotts. He was not just bad in the second half of last year, he was about as bad as you could possibly get. I would not have given up on him this quickly. I said before that I like Aardsma's arm, but I will not walk into the season feeling confident with him coming into a game.

At the end of the day the Sox are no worse off for 2007 with the trades they have made and are vastly improved for the future. The meat of the bullpen looks very good with Jenks, Thornton and Mc Dougle. The starting 5 is still near the top of MLB. The lineup is incredibly powerfull in the middle. All told they have every reason to think they can compete for 1st place in the best division in baseball.
