The last run the A's scored sums up this Sox team. Dropped throw to 2nd, poor tag at 3rd, poor throw to home. Guy should have been out three different times in the inning and scored on a little league play. Also tagged 2nd to 3rd on a little league play.

John Schriffen's reaction on White Sox defensive tag plays is, "He's out...No...He's safe."

5-1 nail-biter.

Closer than it looks.

Sox are on the verge of breaking this 21 game losing streak.

Sox are +160 on DraftKings right now.

Decent value. They’re due.

i'm honestly surprised the spread lines aren't +/- 2.5
they were earlier in the season

An added problem that coexists with this magnitude of a losing streak is the opponents' focus. And even post streak. No one wants to lose to the worst team in history. It's a snowball going down the hill. Teams in the dog days aren't dragging their asses in to play a typical bad team, they're playing a historical team and they're probably pretty fired up about it. 130+ losses is what it looks like to me.

In a normal year, the As would be considered bad.

They are over .500 from July 1. I expect them to make their way out of last place.

Mike Trout is dead and the As get to play the Sox.

True, but he's been in a coma for 6 years. Yay, baseball.

i remember months ago seeing Sox for fewest wins in league and didn't pull the trigger, at the time A's and Rockies were still in contention. Biggest regret ever

Cannon is probably their only starter who they can have any hope of throwing 7-8 IP and keeping the bullpen use to a minimum. He's also capable of getting torched.

The most realistic way for the White Sox to win a game is a lower scoring game where the starting pitcher can give up 1-2 ER in 7+ IP. There's no chance of that happening with Crochet and Thorpe is now injured. Flexen is the only other starter who can go deeper into a game, but he's also a gas can

The White Sox offense has 6-7 almost guaranteed players who don't normally get on base or hit for power.

They are playing a bad team (that has been playing better) so anything is possible, but if they don't win with Cannon tonight, it's really hard to see them winning a game unless they play out of character.

Cannon isn't more than an average starter, but he's probably the best they have right now in terms of actually going deeper into a game.

Pressure is on.

i want to seem them break the record, but it's hard for me to justify the Cubs being the one to do it, and at home no less.

100% accurate. He looks like he is going through the motions at times, he swings at pitches outside the strike zone routinely...he's the one guy in this lineup (outside of Vaughn once in a great while) who is capable of doing any kind of damage. Unfortunately, he's been a complete bust this season outside of short periods of time.

Zero reason to pull cannon at sub 100 pitches when he rolling and a chance to end a losing streak

Loser grifol likes to lose

As predicted....

Don't feel as confident with Davis Martin on the hill today though.
