Boy, Oh Boy, what I have missed here, being in Indiana for a wedding. I'll bet my presence was really missed too, eh?

Boy what a master strategist that Ozzie is. He takes out a pitcher the Cubs have never faced before, who is sailing along( and had only thrown 85 pitches). He puts in Dotel, who most Cub batter were VERY familiar with, from his days with Houston. Nice.

Then, when he gets a leadoff batter to double (Anderson) to lead off the 9th, rather than send someone up that could bunt him over to third, with the potential winning run, he sends up Thome, who fails to advance the runner on a pop-up.

The Sox have some guys who can go yard, but far too many all or nothing guys. Plus far too many dumb players. Cabrerra taking third on the hit by Quentin's single with 2 outs in the ninth today, was one of the dumbest base running decisions that can be witnessed. Trailing by 5 runs in that situation, the risk far outweighed the reward. Saw that one in the bar, at the wedding. Unfortunately, I missed all the fireworks in the 4th, where the Cubs got the 9 runs. Have to watch that tomorrow morning on Tivo.

So much for the Saturday letdown so many expected.

Consider this Sox faithful-The losses the Cubs endured against the Rays, combined with the Wins the Cubs are racking up against the Sox, may prove to be the difference between the Sox making the playoffs and missing them, should Detroit (my pick) or another team, overtake the Sox in the central.

Dempster goes for the sweep tomorrow. What a wonderful weekend it has been, so far.

By the way, Boilermaker Rick-that golf course at Purdue is spectacular. Several of us who went to the wedding I attended, went to play the golf course there, early this morning. It was designed and built by the students in the engineering program there and in the Agriculture program as well. They said that it was the course used for the big ten championship as well. Absolutely outstanding ! If you are in school there, or are an alumnus that ever returns for any reason, and you golf, you should play that course. It's not to miss. I still think your'e an dillhole. But at least your school has a great golf course.

We're singin-Go, Cubs Go. Go Cubs, Goooo........ :P

i can say the same for EVERY Sox fan that i work with.

BOTH teams have meatball fans, and it's those that can rise above that who are not bad to talk baseball with.

Actually the course hosted the NCAA Men's Golf Championships this year.

Another swing and miss, Steve.
Just like A-Ram in last year's NLDS (5 Ks in 12 at-bats).

For good reason, it's exceptional. Could it be that it hosted both Hawkeye? The starter told us it was the site of the big ten championship. If it played host to that, plus the NCAA Championship then the statement would be correct. In any case, its a spectacular course that is both beautiful and challenging. Better than many private courses. Have you ever played it?

According to Purdue's athletic Web site, this year's Big Ten men's tourney was held in East Lansing, Mich. The women's tourney was held in University Park, Pa.

Don't need one. As I stated earlier, it's what the starter on the Kampen course told us. I'm just sorry we didn't have time to play the other course there. He said that one is great too. Just didn't have time for it. But we got to play the Championship course, which was the higher priority. I guess I should have checked out the voracity of his statement, but I assumed he would know the course history and be giving us correct information. The fact that it was host to the NCAA championship and not just for the Big Ten, makes it that much more prestigious.

Here's actually the list of the major events.

• 1999 Big Ten Women's Championship
• 2000 Big Ten Men's Championship
• 2000 Western Junior Championship
• 2001 NCAA Women's Central Regional
• 2003 NCAA Women's Championships
• 2004 NCAA Men's Regional
• 2004 Indiana Open
• 2005 Women's Western Amateur
• 2005 Trusted Choice Big 'I' Junior Classic
• Future Events
• 2008 NCAA Men's Championships
• 2009 Big Ten Women's Championship
• 2010 Big Ten Men's Championship

Now I know what happened. Since you were teeing off from the reds, the staff probably thought it was important to point out that the course will be the site for next year's Big Ten event.

Dotel is a guy who makes his living on bad players. He is a strike out pitcher, who has a very slow motion and release.

Thus a 92 MPH fastball does seem faster if you never faced him. However, if you have seen him, you know the fastball is coming and it is not that great of fastball. strecth

Are you really that concerned with the information a starter gave us. My God, send this info to him. I just paid tribute to a very nice golf course. We chose to tee off from the championship tee box, for your information, just as we have done right after the Western at Cog Hill (Dubsdred), so as to judge just how well we might compete on such a course. Ask Mac how well I play golf, if you doubt it. When we played at Kemper Lakes, Mac and I, as well as 3 putt Gene and Viking Bobby, played from the championship tee boxes as well and I'm sure he would tell you that I play the game quite well. Shot an 84 that day, and Kemper is a tough course, which I had never played before that day. Or since, for that matter. It's private now-perhaps you want to avail us on the history of Kemper now..

I think being familiar with him, is the greatest factor. That's why, more than the pressure of closing vs being a set-up guy, he struggled in his last couple years in Houston. Guys got used to his delivery and rocked him. His fastball does not move a lot. I loved seeing Ozzie put him in for Danks.

The Cubs are very familiar with Dotel and Linebrink which I think helps them a lot. We hit Linebrink well last year also.

The Sox fans should be concerned about Dotel and Linebrink as the season goes on and the AL teams get more familiar with them.

It seems like I have rattled someone's cage -- riled them up.
That's the only reason I came to this site. I'm just here for my amusement -- that's all.

Linebrink has a terrible history of getting worse as the season goes on and on.

This is why SD got rid of him, this is why Milwaukee, who needed help in the pen got rid of him. Yet the KWALS could not strop telling everyone how great he is. I know Linebrinks stats are pretty good and so are " OH DO TELLS" and I have not watched that many games, but seems that when I watch Linebrink and Dotel the give up some really big hits?

However, I am concerned about my guy. Marmol. Got some issues upstairs that need to be worked out.

I'd still rather have Linebrink and Dotel instead of Aardsma and MacDougal.
It's a step in the right direction, but I don't believe it will lead to a World Series crown in 2008.
Just like last year's series, the Cubs are making the clutch plays. It's just a question if they can do the same thing in a POSTSEASON series.

Quality point made from a person who refers to the Cubs as "we".

It is a really nice golf course. The other course is nice too, but not championship quality. I've spent more time tailgating on the golf course than playing it, but that will change soon enough. My tailgate spot is actually on the first or second hole of the other golf course. Somehow, the grass still stays in decent enough shape.

Many of the athletic donor functions include golf outings where you can play with the coaches. I can't wait to play a few holes with the men's track and field coach once schedules become a little more flexible.

I'm glad you enjoyed the course and now I will attempt to use my pull with the university to get you permanently banned. Luckily for you, I have none.

Then you have only watched two games. The only really painfull runs I remember Linebrink giving up are the walk offs versus the Rays and Cubs.

I think he's referring to last year, when Linebrink struggled in the 2nd half. He did struggle with the Padres and especially with the Brew Crew after they got him. But in fairness, he was traded right after his wife had a baby and there was a lot of things going on which likely made it a difficult time to be as focused on pitching as he otherwise might have been. Now you KNOW, if the Cubs had not won the first 2 games, these comments never would have been made...

Linebrink is the 2nd best 8th inning guy in MLB. 2nd only to Marmol.

The only reason Marmol's numbers are worse is cuz he's been over used and he's been tired out there a few times.

Dotel is decent. He gives it up every now and then. But look around baseball. He's pretty good compared to a lot of guys.

In game 3 tonight we can unite on one thing.

Our hate for Joe Morgan. He's the real enemy tonight.

My God, Wrigley field will never be filled with more drunks then tonight.

I can just imagine hundreds of thousands of people have already descended on Wrigleyville to start drinking right now. 41k will stumble into the park at 7pm.

Something horrible is going to happen tonight. Our city will be shamed on national TV.

Maybe the cameras won't catch it but there are going to be a lot of fights in the stands tonight. Somebody will run onto the field as well.
