I do have "a guy" but I'm not really privvy to anything super secret. Word gets out in the org about something (Anderson promoted, Danks DFA) and I hear about it. I dont think I could ever beat a national guy like Nightengale or Rosenthal to something like a Chris Sale trade. The Sox keep shit like that wrapped up pretty tight. That's probably the one way you could hold out some hope that Sale will be traded, the Sox can strike out of nowhere.

No, Reinsdorf is a terrible owner who lucked into getting Michael Jordan, and lucked into getting him at a time when superstar athletes didn't usually leave their teams.

I attribute them to him as much as any owner who isn't also the gm. Why wouldn't you? Plenty of owners have won much less with all time great players.

Its not a slump. He just got old and not as good. It happens to a lot of owners. See Jerry Jones, Al Davis, and Steinbrenner.

Jerry Jones was never a great owner, as 312 explained.

A good owner isn't a cheap ass guy. Reinsdorf has always been that. A good owner has a consistent track record of success. Reinsdorf doesn't have that. A good owner doesn't keep guys in front office roles who have failed for a decade plus. Reinsdorf does that.

Make the case that he has been a good owner without using Jordan and Pippen's titles for a reference. He's owned two teams for over three decades so this shouldn't be hard. (Please don't just respond with "2005.")

The Sox were competitive for MANY years and they won in 2005 (*1994). Jordan didn't win a championship by himself. The moves that were made by the hated Krause helped.

You missed my point. Reinsdorf owned two teams for a combined 70 years or whatever the exact number is. Outside of 2005, he's never had teams even come close to winning a title before 1991 and after 1998. If he was a great owner, he would not have tolerated that type futility.

Jerry Buss, Peter Holt, and Mark Cuban are much better owners than Reinsdorf ever was. I'm sure if we looked into it more than half the league would qualify, but thats off the top of my head.

I understand I won't change your opinion on this since you believe championships mean everything and anything short of that means nothing.

Sox have had a higher payroll for MANY of the years Reinsdorf owned the team. Same with the Bulls.

Bulls hired a GM who drafted a championship dynasty and gave the reins to a hippie CBA coach. Sox had a GM who put together competitive teams and drafted brilliantly.
