Sale. Said. It.

The pitcher you claim is best is admitting the guy I say is best is best. You have no leg.

And Bruce was one of several that reported it.

And I'm 214-1.

The 1 is Brett Jackson.

Arrieta was in Milwaukee at the time of the post.

It's insane Chris Sale is signed until 2019 and will never have sniffed the playoffs when his deal ends. He provides such a head start when building a team.

And Sale is wrong.

Don't get all butt hurt because your bearded buddy is having a good year, it is not the best. That is a fact.

Sale is just being humble. He is not the kind of guy that is going to point at himself and say he is the best.

At this point, he isn't even as good as Jon Lester, who won a Cy Young award that one time.

I could be wrong, but iirc the comment was "at least" one. Lester might be so good he has won an award we don't even know about yet!

Chicago has the 2 best pitchers in baseball. Sale is clearly the most valuable player in baseball. He's making decent relief pitcher money.

First pitcher to 9-0 with under 2 ERA since 1952.

Edit: stupid phone.

Sale became the first pitcher to start a season at 9-0 since Brandon Webb of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008 and the first to be 9-0 with an ERA under 2.00 since Sal “The Barber” Maglie of the New York Giants in 1952. He is the second Sox pitcher to win his first nine-plus starts, joining Eddie Cicotte (12-0) in 1919.

Eddie was a knuckleballer with the 1919 the Black Sox and was banned for life by Landis.
His 1919 salary was $6,000, but he had a provision for a $10,000 bonus if he won 30 games. Legend has it that as the season drew to a close, owner Charles Comiskey ordered manager Kid Gleason to bench Cicotte for 5 games, denying him a chance at a 30-win season and the bonus

Sal was 35 and finished 1952 18-8 for the 2nd place New York Giants

Webb was 22-7 for the 2nd place Snakes and it was his last full season in MLB.

He was the best pitcher in baseball, and then his shoulder fell off.

How many no-hitters has he thrown this year?

A no-no is rather defense-dependent, isn't it? Especially with how Arrieta pitches to ground balls. I don't think one standing wave of rather good luck should weigh so heavily on "best pitcher" debates.

To say that either Arrieta or Sale is objectively better than the other right now is not possible. One is 9-0 with a sloghtly higher ERA, and the other is 8-0 with a slightly lower ERA. They're both basically untouchable right now. If you include last year, Arrieta is better.
