He certainly has an inflated opinion of himself . Being a .500 pitcher with a plus 4 era on team that’s 15 over isn’t exactly getting it done . Maybe he was gassed and it’s LaRussa’s fault for letting him pitch the 5th today .

Right now if I'm ranking pitchers in terms of how I trust them it is:

Lynn (possibly the best in the AL frankly)
Rodon
Cease (he has turned it on and is locating his slider with ease now)
Giolito
Keuchel

Put Kopech in here and he'd be ahead of Cease. (which isn't a knock on Cease)

I honestly thought, Rodon would be the one that was going to be replaced by Kopech. At this point, I think Keuchel is gonna need to be replaced.

I was listening to Jim Duquette on MLB Network Radio, and he thought that the playoff rotation would be Lynn, Giolito, Rodon, Keuchel. Kopech and Cease would be available for longer relief stints of 2-3 innings as well. The context was that he didn't think they needed to get a higher end bullpen arm because they could get through most lineups three and maybe four times with just their six starter-quality pitchers.

That said, I can see them possibly getting a true swing man/innings eater that they can use to give the existing starters some rest in August and September as well as be able to eat some innings in a playoff blowout (win or lose). Of course, the guy who immediately comes to mind for me is Bartolo Colon because he's only going to pitch in ultra-low leverage and at this point he's not going to get an injury at the wrong moment.

Keuchel would seem to be made for the way playoffs are managed now: one trip around the order and then have your foot on the top step by the 4th inning
