The Sox have 30 errors on the year, 3rd most in the AL. They need Anderson in the OF.

the only way you could afford anderson's offense in RF would be to have Mickey Mantle in center.

yeah I hear you francis...but it just seems he's entering that "Ok its been long enough jack ass...start producing" period of his career...like Corey Patterson or Joe Borchard

I like Anderson's defense as well, but I don't think he's done enough on the offensive side to be given the RF spot. If he earns it during spring training, then give the guy a shot.

He needs to shorten his swing, especially with two strikes--like most of these Sox hitters. Fired Greg Walk . . , I mean, Striker!

They can get away with Anderson and his grindy .250 average if they get productivity out of second base, right field, healthy left field (instead of watching tinkerbell prance his way into the corner when the ball gets by him), third base, DH, etc...

On second thought, screw it-replace him

Here is how I see the off season shaping up.

Thome
Dye is retained some way
Figgens is signed to play third
Beckham is moved to second
Podsednik gets re signed to play center  (with Anderson seeing plenty of late innings as the 4th OF
Flowers gets brought up as a DH/backup catcher
Lineup:

Figgens
Podsednik
Quentin
Dye
Konerko
Pierzinski
Flowers
Ramirez
Beckham

lots of speed at the top and bottom. Lots of power in the middle. Decent balance of lefty/righty, and it is a VERY reasonably priced lineup.

Then they would have money to sign a decent starter with the rotation being:

Buehrle
Floyd
Danks
X
Richard

Carlos Quentin, who I will bring up again in just a second, was brought up as a RIGHT fielder when he played for the Arizona Diamondbacks before getting traded to the South side. I think once Jermaine Dye gets moved, I think the White Sox will shift Quentin to right next year. As for the rest of this season, I believe you've seen the last of #20. Carlos and his heel injury isn't healing fast enough, and in a recent blog at 670thescore.com, Sun-Times/SCORE insider Joe Cowley felt that Quentin's tendon could cost him the rest of the season if he came back and reaggravates it again. Meanwhile, a name we haven't heard much since Spring Training, Dayan Viciedo, is going to get a long, hard look in left field as well as third base come September when rosters expand. I'm still not so sure Gordon Beckham's the full time third baseman on this team. As much as I like Chris Getz, second base is ultimately where Beckham ends up long term.

viciedo will never get a call-up this year. he's made like 16 errors at 3B and has a 10-1 K/BB ratio.

Numbers like that could have him playing left field for the Cubs

I'd be more optimistic if the Sox had a solid home record, but they don't.

The team is 4 games under .500, have a losing record at home and are 6 games out of first place. They have a tough stretch at some point in the season against the Yankees, Red Sox and, I believe, the Rays. If they can't even beat Oakland and Cleveland at home, what makes one think they're going to get "hot."

It ain't happening. When one player gets out of a slump, there's always another to fall into one. Quentin will be no savior.

Call up some minor leaguers to see what they can do.

Send Richard down to the minors to develop a freakin' breaking ball. Put Poreda in his spot.

If Jordan Danks keeps up his hot bat and overcomes his injury, why not call him up?

+1

The schedule in late July, early August is really tough. This team went as far as it could by toughing out the division title last year. There's no shame in rebuilding. I don't want to see Dye, Jenks, or Thome (for starters) back next year.

Probably right, but I'd kind of like to see Beckham get a chance at short with Ramirez switching to second. I've been disappointed with Ramirez's play at short.

While we've heard all about Alexei Ramirez making the move to his more natural position of shortstop, I thought #10 did a very capable job once he replaced Juan Uribe (remember him, White Sox fans?) as the everyday second baseman last season. I was in the minority when Ozzie & General Manager Ken Williams decided to move Alexei to short this season, but I also believe moving him to short definitely made Orlando Cabrera expendable. Keep in mind also that Alexei didn't exactly play shortstop or second base when he first played. In the first made-for-ESPN "World Baseball Classic", Alexei was a centerfielder, and that's where he started in extremely limited action when he made the Sox in Spring Training a season ago.
