Same thing happened in 2007 after Buerhle threw the No-Hitter. They had a bad stretch after that too, as the team seemed to let down. A no-hitter is such an emotionally charged accomplishment and a Perfecto....well, it's not all that surprising there is a letdown. Especially when you have guys probably out celebrating the accomplishment the night before a Double Header in which they must face Verlander throwing 96 mph regularly, in game 1. You just have to hope the letdown doesn't last too long.

If the team partied last night to the point of exhaustion, aren't you pissed about it? They had a short turnaround to play 2 games against the team w/ which they are tied for first place. It's late July, not April.

They work their asses off to tie the Tigers and have the chance to put the pressure on. Instead, they are 2 games behind with a great chance of it being 4 games after Sunday. That would be pathetic.

And then they go to Minnesota. I don't care if their studs are pitching, they don't and can't win in that place.

The Cubs had a 3 game letdown against the Dodgers after Z's no hitter.

Tough luck to have to play the early game and a DH the day after the Perfecto. They looked sluggish, but then again, a good pitcher like Verlander can make a team look sluggish any time he pitches.They had plenty of chances against him. Just couldn't get the hits when they needed them.

As of late, the Boom is more like a spark. Believe me, with inconsistent Richard on the mound, this team will be four games out. When it's all said and done, this seven game losing streak against the Tigers and Twins will end this team's playoff chances. Hope I'm wrong.

Why couldn't Jenk throw a breaking ball on that 0 - 2 count against Granderson?

I understand a high-and-tight fastball was the call, but most hitters are only looking for one pitch--a fastball!

Whenever they include breaking balls into their repetoire, they get batters out.

Buehrle's perfect game is a prime example: he admitted throwing more curveballs and changeups. In Thornton's two-inning save/hold against the Rays, he was able to out batters on his breaking balls.

In Richard's wonderful performance against the Rays, he struck batters out on breaking balls.

I will not stop breaking balls until the Sox throw more breaking balls!

Not a good series. Linebrink blew it yesterday, and Jenks today. Thornton is the only reliable arm in that pen right now.

Talk about a big game tomorrow night. Sox go into this series tied for first, and could leave 4 games out of the division lead heading into Minnesota. They have to get that deficit back to 2 games. Pressure's on Clayton Richard to keep them in the game tomorrow night, given how that bullpen has fallen apart.

You see that play by Alexei? That's elite. Very few could bounce the throw with that much on it from that far away. He bounced it on purpose for those who aren't baseball fans.

That was a much better play than it looked.

Ok. Bad weekend but we're only 2 games back. We didn't play horrible this series. We were in two of the losses late and the bullpen gave it up. If you're only gonna win 1 out of 4 it's better to get the last one. Bring on the Twins. Their pitching has sucked the last 7 or 8 games.
