The best part was after that, Ozzie was standing, fuming with his arms folded right in front of a sign that read: "KEEP GUM, SEEDS, AND DRINKS IN THE DUGOUT. NOT ON THE FIELD!"

Keyser, they say Thome has struggled vs. lefties, and the Twins started lefty Glen Perkins tonight at the DAMN METRODOME! :x I'm also sick of Ozzie platooning Chris Getz & Jayson Nix vs. lefties! I'm going to say this with bite & attitude...GETZ SHOULD BE PLAYING EVEN VS. LEFTIES, OZZIE!!! While Nix does have 2 singles tonight, I was at U.S. Cellular Field when Getz had 4 hits, and the Indians started a lefty in a game they won 10-8. Getz can hit lefties, Keyser, and why Ozzie continues to play a VETERAN hitting only .220 in Nix has started to piss me off! ENOUGH OF NIX! :x

Gotta get at least 1 run this inning. Don't want to go to the 9th down against Big Joe Nathan.

Couple of questions...

First off, how many folks hate Elmhurst Steve?

Second, how many are looking forward to the Cubs collapsing again for the third year in a row?

Steve, you are a douchebag and you are the main reason Cub fans get the rap they do. Clueless and consumers of garbage, substandard baseball for over 100+ years. Christ, for as bad as the Sox were last year, they actually won a game in the playoffs unlike your shitty team who was swept, again. The team that swept you didn't even get to the WS, unlike the Rays.

I hope the Cubs tank this year Steve in the most heartbreaking, soul crushing way imaginable. I hope it's so bad your kids cry.

BTW, why do you post on the Sox board? Just to piss people off and give more ammunition for Cub fans to be ridiculed and depised?

FOAD.

The defense in the 2nd inning tonight was abysmal, and had it not been for a piece of the bat getting a bit too close to Gordon Beckham at third, the White Sox could've been charged with 3 errors alone. Other than that, the offense appeared to be non-existent from the 4th inning on once Glen Perkins seemed to settle down following 2 homers to Beckham & Paul Konerko earlier in the game.

You obviously weren't reading his attempts at chirping when they got swept last year. "It was a disappointment". All of the shit he tossed at Soxs fans all year he just said, "We still won back to back divisions" and blah blah...look, don't try and debate him. He is Elmhurst Steve. He has a great life. He doesn't let anything get him down.

I have no problem with people giving Steve a hard time around here, Lord knows he deserves it. But how did this one turn to him?

W_Z,

Thanks for the answers, and yes, I do get suckered into arguments and asking dumb questions.

To be honest, I have some friends who are Cub fans who are actually intelligent, articulate and nice people who see their team for what they are and don't pass judgment on the team I like. I take them to Cub games when I get free tickets and do not cheer if the Cubs lose. I clap when they make a great play, sing the seventh inning stretch, etc. However, when the Cubs got swept I felt bad for my friends but inside was grinning ear to ear knowing that Steve's dreams were crushed.

Change the names around, and I might be able to take something from this. Words of wisdom from the WZRD. I'll try again to swear off swearing at the stupid. It fixes nothing.
CB, don't let Steve speak for all Cubs fans. Just as you wouldn't want some members of this board speaking for all Sox fans. 8)
RFDC, I agree with you. For the most recent ammunition, you need but look on p1 of this thread.
Good luck to the Sox. While I do not root for them, I honestly believe that they are not the Cubs rivals save for six games a year.

The answers given here are really very good ones. The truth is, while I have been disappointed at times with the way several seasons (especially post-seasons) have ended, I love the game and it's not life and death whether the Cubs win or lose. I love good baseball. Thats why in 2005, I went to a dozen Sox games, including game #2 of the Red Sox (opening round) series. I appreciated that team and the way they played the game...the right way. Podsednik was a guy I called for the Sox to reclaim when Quentin went down, as they had an opening and did not have a true leadoff hitter. I loved the way he led off for the 2005 team and how Iguchi would take pitches and hit to right, as a good #2 hitter does. I generally call things as I see them. I don't like this Sox team all that much. I like Beckham's offense, but not his defense so much. I like Pods still. I like Dye on offense, but his defense is not very good, as his range is poor. A.J can hit and call a game, but can't throw out the trash, much less a good baserunner. The starters are good at the top of the rotation, but weak at the back end. Plus, now the bullpen is going badly. Jenks has sucked lately and Dotel has a penchant for getting ahead 0-2 and then throwing a fastball thigh high over the heart of the plate. The there is Line-Brink of disaster....I'll give kudos to Matt Thornton though. Hell, he should really be closing at this point. I do enjoy it when the Cubs are winning and Sox are struggling, (like now) but really, it's more fun when both are winning....then the Sox fans are more spirited in the banter exchanged.

Oh my, the Sox lost again...this time to the Twins, who along with Detroit, will battle it out for the AL central, while the Sux finish 3rd.

Hey asswipe, I have never once compared it to anything or used it as an excuse for the Sox. I agree with Bernsie too, just play the damn game. My hate for the dome is just in general, baseball should not be played in a dome. I hated that awful place in Seattle too, and I hated all those awful astro turf stadiums from the 80s...St. Louis, Philly, Pitts. Brutal.

Big game tonight for Mr. Perfect. Hopefully the hitters can get to Baker early and take a little pressure off the pitching staff. That would be a novel concept.....
