You have made a lot of ridiculous comments today. Do you have a case of the Monday's?

Do you watch the fucking games? What would Rios have done to have changed the 1-2 record with the Injuns. I got green$$$$$$ that says when Jake starts they will be 8 out.

I watch the games, but to say they are going to be 8 games out by August 28th is plain stupid.

Do either of you really care who is the one who breaks this? All of these guys are wrong much more often than they are right.

And BF, may be time to let the Stone hate go.

I would not be shocked to see Dye back for one last year (he has a dual option) with the OF of Quetin, Rios and Dye. The hope would then be that by 2011 Jordan Danks will be ready to come up and then shuffle up the OF from there.

He hit .291, but with just 15 homers and only 79 RBI. This year, he's hitting just .264. Hell, in his "big year" (2007) he only had 24 homers and 85 RBI and they are gonna be on the hook for 57 million for these kinds of numbers....no wonder Toronto let him go for nothing.

I love this move. I went on the record hoping they made a trade for him before the deadline. He is a young guy that is about to enter his prime. His contract isn't outrageous. He is a career .285 hitter that can steal bases. Dye isn't going to be productive forever and may not be back. You also can't count on Pods to have another year like he is having now. The Sox did that in the past and it bit them in the ass. Another great move by Kenny. He keeps showing why he is the best GM this city has.

When I first heard about the waiver claim I wasn't thrilled. In one of the many 'Kenny should sell threads' I said fuck next year I want them to win this year and the Sox are definitely a better team today than they were yesterday. Hopefully Ozzie can keep Rios motivated and playing hard for the next few years.

Rios's power numbers can only go up playing at the Cell, and his defense can only get better playing on natural grass.

This is a great move and I love seein Elmhursteve and bigfan wearing green yet again.

I took the waiver claim with a grain of salt, and thought the Blue Jays would take Alex Rios back, despite the big salary. I think Rios upgrades the White Sox fragile at best outfield overall, in spite of the big salary owed. The Sox plan on moving Alex around the outfield, but I think the move means 4 things in my opinion. Even though he'll platoon with the likes of Carlos Quentin in left and Scott Podsednik in center once he joins the Sox tomorrow night, I ultimately think he'll be the full time centerfielder next season. This despite the fact Rios played right in Toronto. Two, you're not going to see as much of Mark Kotsay as when the White Sox acquired him from Boston for Brian Anderson before the deadline. Kotsay will likely give Jermaine Dye a breather in right and Paul Konerko at first base once a week. Third, say goodbye to DeWayne Wise, who will likely be designated for assignment or waived completely to make room. Fourth, Gordon Beckham & Jayson Nix might be sporting new numbers with the Sox to accommodate Rios, who sported #15 in Toronto and might want the same number now that he's en route.

His contract isn't that ourageous either. He makes like $6mil this year, 7 or 8 next year, 9 or 10 after that, then it gets a little crazy, but shit by then $12mil could be the going rate for a guy with his numbers, maybe even below market rate.

In 2010, 11, and 12 we might look back on this time and say they were a couple of the best moves in Sox history. Only time will tell, but Kenny has gone out and gotten 2 All Star players when his team needed them.

Wow...you are dumb.

So I disagree that Pods will be back next year and I'm a know it all? How is Witty not a know it all by posting who will be playing what position next year? (An opinion he is entitled too) I didnt attack anyone, I just stated my opinion. It's a message board, a place to share an opinion. Agree or disagree if you want, but feel free to have an original thought.

I like the deal.

Rios is a good defensive centerfielder, has speed on the bases and pop in his bat. Plus, he's moving from a pitcher friendly ball park to The Cell. His offensive numbers should improve for that reason alone.

As for next year, I think they should keep Dye as DH and wave good bye to Thome. I know some folks here are down on Dye but he carried the Sox quite a bit this year. Even though he's slumping since the break, I have a feeling he'll break out of it before too long. That and keep Pods on board as a 4th OF.

All in all, I like the look of the team going into next year.

I just heard that Torres will be sent down to make room for Rios, leaving the White Sox with 6 OF's, including D.Wise, which makes no sense.

Yes, because the one thing the White Sox are lacking is home run hitters. How will they ever find a way to hit them?

Rios is a good player, who underpeformed this year based on his prior year stats. The Blue Jays locked him up to a big deal because they felt he could do what every Sox fan assumes he will do. The assumptions on this is what could be dangerous. I hope to see the player the Blue Jays hoped he would be, but if this was the last year of his deal in Toronto, would you sign him to a 4 year , $48 million deal?

Greater minds than ours I guess, because sending a pitcher down and carrying a 6th OF doesn't make sense.

I believe they sent Torres down until the 5th starter's spot comes up again.

They may not need him for the rotation, but the way that bullpen is being used, I'd prefer an extra pitcher out there, certainly over a 6th OF. I just hope that Guillen doesn't force Wise into the lineup every 4th or 5th day.

BD, I was at U.S. Cellular Field Saturday night when Carlos Torres couldn't find Bridgeport, let alone the strike zone vs. the Indians in that spot start. Carlos was very fortunate to get a no-decision despite 6 walks and what appeared to be a sure loss in his second career start. As for the roster, although the fifth starter spot is supposed to come up just 2 more times before Jake Peavy is tentatively scheduled to make his White Sox debut at the new Yankee Stadium during that 10 game "ROAD TRIP FROM HELL!" August 28th, you're right on the money. DeWayne Wise is as good as gone in my opinion, and I surely don't see him playing all that much anymore with Rios on the roster tonight in Seattle. Why the hell is Mark Kotsay even here either? Unless he backs up Paul Konerko at first base, the Kotsay acquisition now becomes even more puzzling. Given the fact Jose Contreras can't seem to find the plate anymore either, you can't have enough pitching to bail out a washed-up righty!

So I make a post asking you to prove that you thought that taking on Edwin Jackson was foolish and you bump a post that simply was spitting out the statistics of Alex Rios? Wow.

The best part is that this post once again proves my point. You didn't actually give an opinion here. You just said that you understood why Toronto let him go for nothing because he wasn't performing well. That way, if he's better on the Sox you can pretend like you weren't against the move and simply understood why Toronto did it, and if he's bad like he is now you can pretend like you hated the deal. You've done this constantly. I don't think I need to bump the "Cubs fans will be happy with Milton Bradley" post that you made and then later on said you didn't like the deal from the start. Now, instead of actually showing that you thought the Edwin Jackson deal was foolish you bump a generic Alex Rios post.

You aren't convincing anyone Steve. I'll give you a word of advice. Start your posts with a definitive statement and then support it. Don't make generic statements and then fill in the blanks later on. It's not convincing anyone.
