What a fabulous "race" this is

It's a bad race, but I'd rather be in it than out of it. Once you get to the playoffs, regular season record no longer matters.

When a team can't catch the ball, throw the ball or pick up the ball, nothing matters.
This whole throw out the record books when the Playoffs start is further proof of the lasting influence of "You can throw out the record books when these two teams get together" Jack Brickhouse.
This truly is unique to Chicago baseball fans on both sides of town....IGNORE what is really happening on the field and be some sort of "TRUE FAN".
When Houseman Hawk Harrelson is ripping the defense to shreds, I guess it is now OK for the TRUE FANS to take the blinders off.

The real countdown is how many games under .500 will this exciting "contender" be when they return from this trip    !!!!

Who's ignoring that they have a bad defense? You may be ignoring that they are still only 3.5 games out in a bad division. I'd rather win the division than not.

Why, to buy a T-shirt or pop off to an idiot Cub Fan like Elmhurst Steve.
How about a team that wins the division that is actually good?
Why be conned by fool's gold?
This reminds me of 2000, that team won the division......NO ONE talked about them once Seattle swept them in the Playoffs....EVER AGAIN.

Very simple for me.

I'd rather make the playoffs than not. Everyone knows this team has is about an average club, and maybe worse than that so I can't say I'm expecting them to beat anyone in the playoffs, but they happen to be in a bad division and still close in the division. Somebody has to win this division, I'd rather it be the White Sox.

BD, the one thing we agree on is we want these guys to succeed.
Games like last night are BRUTAL.
I seriously am looking forward to Kenny's moves this Winter.

Don't look now but the Twinkies are making a charge for second place. I believe the Sox will most likely finish in third behind the Twins with the Tiggers winning the division.

This team is astonishingly bad with regards to defense. I don't know how to fix it, but something must be done. How many games have been lost due to bootin' the ball around?

Jose, Sweaty Freddy, and Linebrink need to go. Buerhle is really concerning me with his recent performances since the Perfecto.
Deadarm anyone? The Sox need to come back with a much different lineup next year to compete with Detroit and Minnie-yota.

G-Beck was great for the team this year. He can only get better and that will be fun to see.

Make a list of all the starters in AA and AAA...Throw a dart at it...That guy starts in Contreras' place. Seriously they couldnt do any worse...at least a guy that can eat innings.

Last night was absolutely horrible. The way Boston scored those their first 4 runs was ridiculous and then Contreras gave up the 3 run bomb.

As for Kenny's moves, I think we've seen them already. They have to make decisions on Thome and Dye, will probably let Dotel walk, but with the Rios/Peavy acquistions, I think most of the work is done.

Jose Contreras is finished, and even a demotion to the bullpen now won't mean squat for a guy who's lost his control and his best pitch big time. I wouldn't be shocked to see #52 announce his retirement sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Jayson Nix is counting the days before Chris Getz returns to second base this weekend at Yankee Stadium. Anyone who thinks Nix remains the starting second baseman with a dropping BA of .221 following an 0-for-3 night last night in Boston, not to mention the second error in the field, is kidding themselves! Who the hell is Nix? Former Sox Juan Uribe, who also sported the #5 on the silver & black White Sox uniform? As for Getz, he starts a rehab assignment tomorrow for Triple "A" Charlotte, and needless to say, he can't return fast enough in SHARK's opinion!

I'm not sure where to put Jayson Nix but Getz needs to get back ASAP. I hope the Sox just shitcan Contreras and get him outta here. A fifth starter has to be decent at least but Jose isn't even that.

With regards to Kenny's moves in the off-season, I think he needs to get a young RF with some pop and decide what to do with Pods. I know CQ played RF as his natural position, but I don't know how strong/accurate his arm is.

When Chris Getz is activated this weekend, Country, Jayson Nix will give Gordon Beckham a breather at third base. Yeah, I know Beckham homered over the Green Monster in last night's 12-8 loss to the Red Sox, but #15 might be hitting a bit of a rookie wall. White Sox radio voices Ed Farmer & Darrin Jackson said during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Orioles that Beckham was starting to tire. That was before Gordon had 2 hits in the losing effort Sunday. Before the last series vs. Baltimore, Ozzie thought Nix was more of a Mark DeRosa-type, and a guy who could play multiple positions besides second base. I'm not so sure Brent Lillibridge fits that description. Besides, right now the Sox have very little choice at second base with Getz still on the DL with the lower oblique. Nix is now hitting only .221, while Lillibridge, who entered last night's game as a defensive replacement, is hitting just .153 in very, very limited action since his recall from Triple "A" Charlotte almost 2 weeks ago.

Fuck that POS Lily-bridge. He's just another lil' guy that swings for the fences and doesn't have the smarts to make the swing adjustments he's been asked to make. The Sox have enough "power" guys on this old-ass roster.

The idea was to have Brent Lillibridge as "insurance" when he was recalled from Triple "A" Charlotte to fill Chris Getz's roster spot when #17 was placed on the DL with the lower oblique during the last road trip out West. I think he'll be sent back to Triple "A" when Getz is ready to go this weekend in the Bronx, but I'm not so sure Lillibridge will be among those recalled when rosters expand come September 1st to 40.

of course he will be recalled in september. He has value on an expanded roster as he can pinch run and plays good defense.

GD, Brent Lillibridge's only hitting .153 and Jayson Nix is hitting only .221 and dropping since taking over for Chris Getz at second base in Oakland about 2 weeks ago. :x Getz was hitting .267 overall since going on the DL with the lower oblique and was one of the hottest hitters on this roster. Getz has proven enough to me that not only will he get his job back at second base when activated this weekend in the Bronx, but he'll be the everyday second baseman come 2010 for the Chicago White Sox. You read it here.

I'm not going to worry about who is #37 on the expanded 40 man roster.

I am, however worried about this god-awful defense and who the #5 starter is..

When the 2009 White Sox season ends, they'll look back at the lack of quality starting pitching and the defensive woes overall as their undoing, Apologist. As the Red Sox showed in the 3rd inning alone last night, you can't give good teams 4 or 5 outs in an inning...

Guys on the corners, no outs and you fuckers can't get ONE fucking run across the plate. FUCK YOU!

Nice at-bats by Dye and fuckhead A.J. Hey A.J, take your bad-swinging, bat-slamming ass back to Chicago. You suck!

Jonathan Papelbon is in there with a chance to save this one for Boston in the top 9th, and the Red Sox leading 6-3. It may be approaching "Taps" time...

By the way, "The Insider", "The King of Queens", "Tyler Perry's House of Payne", the surviving family of Bernie Mac and possibly "Frasier" are all wondering why their shows on The U will be pre-empted tomorrow for another piece of crap like this...
