To bring back Dye and sign Jones might be one of the worst moves ever Drop In! That means you could have pursued one of the better free agents to actually be your starting RF or CF.
Calling these signings GREAT disgusts me. Do you all know the Rangers made this exact deal last year? They signed Jones for $500,000 with incentives. He played half a season batted .214, hit 17 HR's and struck out 72 times in 82 games.

You are correct. I will agree Reinsdorf did not tell Kenny to go and offer Jones $500K, but it is structured just like Jerry has structured many deals over the years, before Kenny got there, thus didnt need the vast interaction ot structure a 1 year deal.

I will now wait to see how this comment is ripping the White Sox, which Frank will explain to everyone

In the case of Jones though, they signed him to an extremely cheap deal with incentives should he perform well. I don't think this deal is much different than what any other team would do, teams aren't handing out rich contracts to guys coming off a .215 batting average.

Kenny Williams usually trades for those .215 hitters.....Nick Swisher comes to mind and I'm sure Teahen will not disappoint.

I knew I shouldn't get involved in this section. The responses make it sound like I would put Vizquel and Jones in starting spots. They won't be. You avoided my point, which was the only way the moves are bad is counting on these guys for major roles. The total investment is very small, and they should be bench players. If they are more, this is bad. As for Dye, find his offensive production somewhere else. At DH, you would not have his awful fielding, and maybe he wouldn't be the shits at the end of the year. Or, just keep being angry about everything an organization does. It makes for bad posts and bad sports radio.

Don't spoil the offseason bitch-fest with reasonable thinking, Drop In. That will get you nowhere around here.

I guess it is reasonable to acquire your backups before you acquire your starters then?

Who you guys kidding. Jones is not SET to be a backup, he will get a chance to start. If the fans (yes, Sox fans) want to state that this guy will only be a reserve because he was signed for $500K, thats fine, but they signed him in hopes of him being somewhat of the player he was in 2005.

Haven't seen any of the Sox faithful even come close to saying this? Kenny signed the Andruw because he wants to see the guy hit 30 HR's, not to see him as a backup! The odds are he will be a backup, but they didn't sign the guy hoping he will be a backup!

I am just looking forward to Kenny Williams blaming THE FANS in July when they refuse to come out and freeze in April and May....and when the team blows in August there is the annual Jerry Reinsdorf ass kissing from the Hawkeroo, Kenny and Ozzie.

This organization truly inspires confidence and optimism with their CUSTOMERS....

This is Joe Maurer's option year...if he decides to bolt the Twins, these miserable cheap bastards on 35th STREET COULD GAIN A LOT OF STREET CRED BY ACTUALLY SIGNING HIM...

Chairman could actually INSURE the contract....

But they can't even sign the great FIGGINS.....too pricey...

Here Ya Go Frank- I will respond for you.

I am happy my team invested heavily in the starters. We might have one of the best starting 4 in baseball and to try and capitalize on that , we signed a guy in Andruw Jones that could hit 25+ HR's in our park, and thats all we will need to win some games.

If the angels keep figgins then find a way to get brandon wood from them. He is out of options after spring training and at best he would be on their bench while they tried to trade him. He has some strikeout issues, but he is good in the field and can play short and 3rd. If you are going to take on jones, then take on this guy. At worst he would become adam dunn who can also play in the field, and the infield at that.

Let's get Ranger back here to discuss the merits of the strikeout as opposed to the double play in regard to the White Sox "Offense"!!!!!

Well Soze, according to Drop In, the person you have agreed with , IF these guys (Jones specifically) starts, then these are bad moves? This is exactly what you have agreed with?????

I hate to explain it to you, but it is EXACTLY what Kenny Williams wants to happen. He would love to see Jones perform in spring training and be his starting RF platooning with Jayson Nix and not The Backup you, Drop In and Frank have deemed him to "Only" be?

I agree with the signing, dont agree with the role the Sox fans have assigned to this guy?

Would you take 34 HR and a .225 Avg out of your RF?

You don't even know if this washed up slob Jones will even make it out of Spring Training...and if he does, he's Kenny's latest Bartolo Colon.

Maybe Jones success was STEROID fueled?

How did Kenny's latest on the cheap "find" fall so fast so soon?
