WTF?!?! How bad did Peavy look? Was his velocity down or was he leaving everything up again??

velocity was good, but he didn't use his breaking ball so everything was a consistent speed, and he also missed some spots in bad counts, lets just say he was bad...

Ok, thanks. I feel better.

Is it still 7-7? I'm too lazy to go to the Sox site.

Why is Darrin Jackson the lead play-by-play announcer now? He's even worse at this than Farmer is.

Hate to see Bobby with the 2 walks, but boy was that a masterpiece of a change-up to end that game. Big win to start off this trip.

Bobby Jenks scares the shit out of me now. Every time he takes the mound I get all twitchy expecting bad things to happen. I don't trust him.

Yes Frank, nice way to start off the trip. Every year I dread the 4 game sets in Toronto (and Tampa for that matter). At least we're getting the Jays off the menu early enough for it not to matter much.

If memory serves me correctly, they have fared very well in Tampa. 3 or 4 and a sweep. I think in 2008 they either split or lost 3 of 4, but other than that they do well there for some reason.

This.

I'm not ready to bail on him yet but that confidence I once had when Bobby entered the game is all but gone. It's like I'm waiting for something to blow up...

Peavy wasn't that great outside Petco. In a hitter's park he's gonna get shelled. This is what he is probably. He'll do fine if the Sox ever go to Sandy Yeago.

He is not getting shelled really. He is falling behind in the count and giving up hits. Any pitcher in MLB is going to give up hits and runs if they are constantly pitching in 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 counts.

Eh...I consider getting shelled giving up HR after HR after HR I guess. Semantics but yeah Peavy has not been good in either start this year.

Yeah. 2 starts. He'll probably be fine.

Your wording was just funny.

Jay Cutler isnt playing bad. He's just throwing the ball to the other team constantly. Any QB is gonna lose when he does that.

What concerns me much more about last night is having runners at 2nd and 3rd with NO outs, and failing to score.

Tonight's lineup:

Vizquel 2B
Beckham DH
Quentin RF
Konerko 1B
Jones LF
Rios CF
Pierzynski C
Ramirez SS
Teahan 3B

I fully expect Teahan to go back to sucking now.

We've gotten used to that. I'd have to guess the Sox are one of the worst in the majors in that situation over the past half decade.

Omar Vizquel at second base and Gordon Beckham DH-ing tonight...I'm not so sure I like that, even though the SCORE/Sun-Times' Joe Cowley mentioned that during Spring Training. I thought Vizquel would give a breather to Alexei Ramirez at shortstop instead of DH-ing Beckham. Although Vizquel scored the winning run last night on Mark Teahen's RBI triple in the top 11th, Ramirez is off to another slow start for the White Sox, hitting only .154 after going 0-for-4 prior to Mark Kotsay's pinch hit single. I've got to think Vizquel has a start at shortstop soon if Ramirez doesn't shape up quickly. Besides, why is Jayson Nix on this roster? Jayson has yet to play a single game for the 2010 White Sox after platooning quite a bit with Chris Getz, now with Kansas City, a year ago...

You aren't going to take Beckham out of the lineup for Nix. He could possibly play 3b for Teahan against a lefty, but it appears early on that Vizquel is getting those ABs. Nix is somewhat versatile, but doesn't play any position particularly well, and doesn't hit for much of an average. I'm not sure how many hits Vizquel has left in his bat, but at least you get steady to good play with the leather.

The Blue Jays are starting 3 lefties in this series, Apologist, and Ricky Romero is a lefty. Unfortunately for the White Sox, only Jones & Teahen have ever faced Romero lifetime and tonight's game is a bad omen if recent history means anything.

As far as Nix goes, he's supposed to be good at second base defensively. When Ramirez was injured last summer, Jayson started a number of games at shortstop and wasn't too good. I was kinda hoping that Nix would learn how to play third base with Vizquel covering the tabs occasionally for Ramirez & Beckham at second, but I don't think he's much better there.

Jones is hot so Juan is the odd man out. I don't have a problem with this....
