The NL east has exceptional pitching and he did OK there too.

What is it Frank? Are you going to be on the AL is a superior league bandwagon or not man?
If so, then you know that Dunn was facing worse teams and worse pitching.
If not, and you want to claim that there's no skill difference between the NL teams he feasted on and the AL teams he can't touch then I don't want to hear any more NL is shitty and AL is superior stuff.

The AL is supreme, and Dunn has been awful the last 2 weeks.

So the AL is supreme to just the NL central and West?

So you think that you should put the worst fielder on the team on the field to keep him loose?
Would the increase in production offset the decrease in defense?

I don't know that it would.

1st base is as easy as it gets, lets see him there..frank thomas always said he had a hard time staying loose when riding the pine and getting his 4 at bats a game.. i bet thomas and dunn are equally bad with the leather. teehan is no gold glover by the way..and can't hit for shit

Left field-- where Dunn has also spent time.

left is second easiest..dunn has no speed, not much of an arm, never get to the balls he needs to.

If you are counting DH then yes LF is second easiest. LF is easier than 1st base by far. In LF, you catch the ball, or field it, then throw it in. On a rare occasion there is a play at 3rd you back that up. Thats it.

First you have to hold runners on, make relay throws, field groudners, turn a double play, lead your pitch to the bag if he is covering because you fielded a ball, etc etc.

First base is by far the least demanding defensive position. Come on, Frank. You know enough baseball to know that.

 Yes let's put another terrible defensive guy in the field, that will get em out of their slump. How about they put Teahen in center as well, maybe that will help?

  You might be onto something there. His problem usually is throwing the ball to first.

Least demanding?? Come on. The left fielder waits for the ball to stop rolling then picks it up and throws it in. 1st base is a VERY demanding position learning the proper footwork to pick throws out of the dirt, field rockets hit from left-handed hitters 100 ft away, turning double plays and feeding the pitcher.

I could go out tomorrow and play an adequate left field. If I played first base I'd be dead before the 7th inning stretch.

Jim Thome played first base.

Thread Over.

Alfonso Soriano plays left field.

Now it's over.

He actually played 3rd base for a while, came up as a 3rd sacker. And then it was 1B for only for a while...

Between Soriano and Pierre, we've seen enough of bad left field in this town to know that it doesn't take much to be a left fielder.

You want to put the guy with the worst glove on the team at the position that touches the ball the most (save for the pitcher and catcher)?

Good idea.

1st, lf,rf, in that order of easiest positions to play..you need no speed no arm to play 1st.. any slob who is at the tail end of his career could stand at first base and field throws. the pitcher covers 1st base and the 1st baseman moves 8 feet to flip him the ball maybe once a week, not real difficult. put a 1st baseman in left field and watch him get bad reads off the ball, and balls drop in front of him or over his head(soriano) then you need an arm to throw the ball. i do not count dh as a position it is made up like a short center.

When a player is old and cant play his position anymore they usually attempt to move him to first base....because its so demanding

No not really.
They tend to DH or leave baseball if they can't play baseball anymore.

Do you know that Fielder isn't really that bad in the field?
He plays a decent 1st base.
Don't let his size fool you (although it seems to have already) he's actually a decent athelete.

I doubt you could. But many old leftfielders have moved to first base. Not the other way around. At first base, for the most part, you catch balls that are thrown to you. I'm not having this argument. There isn't any argument. By any measure you want to use, first base is the least demanding position on the diamond. If you want to call it the "easiest", that's fine too.
