"Bad" Ohman with the homerun. Let's not lose this game to the Ex-Cub Factor.

Who was it that wanted Sale to remain a relief pitcher?

I was in that camp. I was concerned about the innings. He never was ever expected to pitch a 200 inning season in his life. So I'll be interested to see how he's doing in August or September... same kind of numbers or a wearing down?

I believe the plan is for him to max out at 160 or 170 innings this season. Though if they are still neck and neck with the Tigers come Labor Day, its going to be hard to do that.

Glad I drafted him for my fantasy team :D

I was also concerned about losing awesome long relief. Sale out of the pen costs more than the benefit of having him in the starting line up. But hey you got will oh man. No problem.

I'm sorry I don't follow. Did he pitch a 200 inning season in his past?
His pro stats show he's still not pitched 200 over a 3 year MLB career. I don't see many minor league innings. Do pitchers in college or HS pitch that much?

No high school or college pitcher throws 200 innings and I doubt any minor league pitcher does either. They build themselves up to that number and that's what Sale is doing now. He's only 23 years old.

So what did you mean by you are sure it's news to him?

Like I said, he's going to be expected to pitch more this season than he has his entire professional career... we'll see how he does after throwing 170 innings. Yeah, I like his numbers now. Damn fine numbers. But his size and durability are questionable in my opinion. Just my thought process. I was very concerned about the starting rotation because Peavy is ouchy and Sale never came close to that kind of work load ever, and your 200 inning horse is gone now... we'll see.

You said he was never expected to throw 200 innings 'in his life'. A starting college pitcher drafted 13th overall is expected to throw 200 innings a year. It won't be this year but it will be in the next couple years.

Try re-reading what I was saying. I think you misunderstood what i was getting at.

Yes I'm sorry I missed the deeper meaning of 'He never was ever expected to pitch a 200 inning season in his life?' My bad.

There's no deep meaning in past tense sentences. Just that it's past tense.

I don't want to get carried away, but look this up. Gordon Beckham has what Albert Pujols STILL doesn't have...How 'bout that?! Tell your friends.

Don't want to get carried away?

*sigh*

We obviously know that Pujols will hit homeruns eventually, and he damn sure won't finish with fewer homers than Beckham. What was your point in stating that insignificant stat?

Well, touche on that one. Gordon Beckham starts the day with a BA of just .190, despite 3 hits last night in the slop at The Cell, a 7-2 White Sox winner over the Indians.

The Mark Few looking Roger Bossard's field looked to be in pretty good shape after the rain yesterday, SHARK. Slop doesn't seem altogether accurate a description.

If U were watching on The U (See what I did there?), I could've sworn I was going to see "Svengoolie" come out of the left field bullpen... It was that damp, dreary & foggy...

Did you see the Indians missing popups last night? Looks there there was some misCOMCASTations between the infielders last night at "The Cell"...

Some crappy CW shows don't approve of this.

I see what you did there. WGN Sports actually produces the games on The U, and they'll do so tomorrow night at 7p when the Indians & White Sox wrap up this series.
