The roster crunch got a lot worse. I don't know how they are going to fit all these guys on the roster and that's even assuming De Aza and Keppinger are gone. Hahn has some serious work to do at the winter meetings.

As for Dunn I don't think anyone will want him during the off season. The only hope is the fat bastard comes into camp reasonably in shape hoping to have a good "contract year" season.

Well, we're going to find out if he's been dogging it for three years or if he actually sucks that bad.

If Dunn is hitting ~.220 with 18 HRs and around 50-60 RBI at the AS break, the Sox will be able to move him.

I think they may move him before that. I look at it this way. You've got Konerko at $2.5 million. He was dinged up all last year. Maybe he has one more season left. Not his very best, but maybe he can give you .270-.275 and 20-25 homers in 400-450 AB. If you add in Dunn's money, you're paying about $17 million for that production. That's a lot, but it isn't the absolute end of the world, especially if you can pick up a couple younger prospects for Dunn. And maybe you don't have to eat a couple million of it. So now you've got Konerko for $15 million and two B prospects and Dunn is gone. I don't think that's pie in the sky and it may be doable before the season starts.

I don't know if you could move Dunn before the season starts. Even with the Sox paying 90+% of his salary I don't know who would want him. Now if a big bopper on another team goes down with an injury in Spring or in April, then it becomes much more doable. The return you are suggesting for Dunn should certainly not be out of the question. If Dunn gets shipped to a contender and hits 2 HRs in the playoffs then that trade becomes instantly worth it for the other team.

You aren't getting any prospects worth a damn for Dunn unless you pick up all his deal.

I'm not sure what you're going to get for him even if you do. I would think you might be able to get a couple 19 year old guys who aren't very highly regarded but who might be able to develop. And you might not have to eat all of it, just most of it. There has to be a team out there who is desperate for a left-handed power bat. Besides the White Sox. That's the real irony. They might be better off keeping him. But the way the team is constructed, they just have too many guys who put the ball in play too rarely.

I read Ten Foot Midget's column and he insisted Dunn is still more valuable than Konerko. I don't agree, but I'm sure some guys in baseball might. If that's the case and you have to pay Dunn $2 million or something, maybe you think you're getting a bargain.

In other news, Jerry has requested Obama to rename September to Konerko!

As the Sox will celebrate Konerko's existance on planet Earth for the whole month of September!

I think this will make Paulie the 2nd of Jerrys top 3 people. Thome is one of the others and who is the third?

Is it Harold Baines? I feel like when in doubt, the answer is Harold Baines.

To be fair, that is kind of a big deal. Protests never get upheld. A lot of really valid ones have been denied over the years, but leave it to the Cubs' organizational incompetence to finally get a protest upheld.

I think the right decision was made, but it does not really follow protocol. I just found it funny that Frank was so excited about it that he posted it in two separate threads and made sure to include three  As if any Cubs fan really cares at this point. Sad but true.....I'm looking at the loss column leaders and I believe the Cubs are running third behind the Rockies & Rangers. #justlosebaby

They should protest the protest on the grounds that the umpires delay in suspending the game caused the field crew to be in an impossible position.

I would figure the confusion over which Konerko celebration to attend would be enough. Bobble head, Backpack, and the NEW KONERKO ZONE!

Why does anyone care? Outside of the Giants, it was the right ruling

You cared enough to reply in an entirely different thread.

bigfan is just as concerned with Konerko as he was the LGBT night.

I think this is well deserved for a World Series hero like Konerko.

I would say so. Arguably the second best hitter in franchise history is hanging it up, and bigfan mocks the Sox for it by posting a Konerko pic in a Dodgers uniform.

I would guess NO team celebrates a player for a whole month. if Jeter is getting 1 day at Jankee stadium, 1 is fine for paulie.

Would even guess Paulie would have said 1 is good.

and I thought the Konerko Dodgers card was kind of cool....and if you are going to fill a 14 games of Paulie shit, you might need to go back in time.

But good to see frank isnt over senstive about anything Sox.

 Jeter has had a whole season. Have you watched any baseball this year? Did you see the All Star Game?

Why do seem to take so personally everything the Sox do?

This was a good call. Dunn did not have those type of numbers at the AS break. He barely has them now.

Maybe the second best of your lifetime, but probably not in the discussion of top 2 hitters in franchise history.

Minoso
Jackson
Thomas
Appling

The YANKEES are not celebrating the whole season and I am happy for Paulie for having a month of celebrations. it's not even close to overkill.
