Changing the argument like that is definitely a concession. The victor here is not you in any way, shape, or form. And it was never going to be.

I'm not changing my argument. I was told he would not be under .800. He has been under .800 half the time since that was told to me. He may finish the season below. He may finish the season above. But when last season, this season, next season...you have a player that will average .800 OPS. And for a first baseman with limited (read: no) other skills, that simply isn't good.

The only point there has ever been is that White Sox fans severely overrate Jose Abreu. Your argument used to be that he was better than Anthony Rizzo. Now you're struggling trying to win an argument about .800 OPS. I think that tells the story without needing much more exposition.

2nd in hits, 2nd in doubles, 1st in RBI, 3rd in HRs, 2nd in total bases, 1st in plate appearances, 2nd in pitches seen.

I was one of the best run producing utility players during our Sunday pickup baseball games throughout my age 18-23 seasons.

Not something to gloat about.

Any time you want to acknowledge how weak the 1B position is in the AL would be fine. It is unnecessary, but it would at least show you have some small understanding of the league.
