He'll get at least 4/72.

I don't think so, for a couple reasons. First, he has obviously had an exceptionally bad season. Secondly, he has never really had a really good season. He has had stretches in seasons where he was very good, but never a really good season. Lastly, there are going to be a fair number of quality starters on the market, making it more of a buyers market. I think he's going to be disappointed with the offers he gets, which would only be right, because he really is not deserving of better.

I wouldn't be surprised if he cracks $20 million a season. That doesn't mean he deserves it, but a number of teams love that he's a competitive guy, and still think he's just having a bad season (or stretch) with a good stuff. As mentioned, only 1 team needs to make him an inflated offer, and he's been a healthy pitcher with less wear on the arm for most pitchers his age.

If he had a good season or two under his belt, I would agree. But he doesn't. He has a lot of really good games over his career. But he also has a lot of really bad ones. He has stretches of good games. but he has stretches of awful games. Overall, he's been pretty similar to Edwin Jackson prior to his singing with the Cubs. Excuse the losing record due to playing on some bad teams, but you can't excuse the mediocre to bad ERA and WHIP. Sure it only takes one dumbass to sign him to a stupid deal. But if a team does sign him for big money, I believe they will regret it, much like the Cubs regret the Jackson deal.
