White Sox RHP prospect Dane Danning struck out 10 hitters over eight scoreless innings on Thursday for Double-A Birmingham.
Dunning allowed just four hits, and he didn't put anyone on via walk. The 23-year-old right-hander certainly wasn't an unknown prospect coming into 2018, but things have escalated with his 96 strikeouts over 82 2/3 innings and 2.72 ERA. There are three above-average pitches to work with, and he throws all of them for strikes while hitting his spots. Dunning doesn't appear to need much more work, and could pitch for the White Sox next year with an outside chance of making starts in 2018.

Dunning looks like a winner. Lopez, Rodon, Covey, Dunning is a nice place to start next year.

Sam Abbott, a pick I thought was at least interesting last year, is not on the Great Falls roster.

There are a couple interesting names on that roster. Corey Zangari is finally back from injury so it will be interesting to see how he looks and if he can ever tap into that massive power.

The other is Jhoandro Alfaro. I've been waiting for this guy to pop up. He's the younger brother of Phillies catcher Jorge Alfaro and it was said when he signed that Jhoandro was better at the same age. Well he's now 20 yrs old and listed at 6'1" and only 180. That's really disappointing. You'd think by 20 he'd mature into a bigger stronger guy.

Besides that not much on that roster to be very excited about though my guy Adam McGinnis (Western IL) is still hangin on!

Lots of promotions coming.

Call, Cease and Basabe (among others) to Birmingham.
Eloy, Seby and Ian Hamilton to Charlotte.

More definitely to come.

The 2016 draft is looking really solid.

I think they(Collins and Seby) need to play catcher everyday. That wasn't happening.

Rutherford has found some power. Turning into a really well-rounded prospect. His offensive profile feels very low-risk and he will excel in LF defensively. Really becoming my guy in the Sox system.

How old is Rutherford? I think that he had the look of a guy who could make a major league roster as am outfielder and legit bat.

They save Hansen but lose Dunning.

The one tweet I've seen about Dunning is that it looks bad, but nothing has been confirmed.

The Sox are not incapable of pulling a rabbit out of their hat here but popped elbow with Dunning not talking after the game...seems like something where fate has already spoken.

Like I said, Hansen looked destined for the same and he's back just shaking the rust off. They insist nothing is wrong with Kopech, but of course they would. Assuming the Giolito situation is unrecoverable they have a big glaring hole in next year's rotation.

The video didn't look bad at all. He was ready to make his next pitch until Collins motioned to the dugout. I know Dunning is a tough guy but a pitcher usually knows when he blows out. Hopefully it's just a strain.

Probably best to wait before declaring his career over as some are prone to do.

Yeah and what they are doing with surgical techniques right now is awesome.

Dane Dunning left his start last night with right elbow soreness. He will continue to be examined over the next few days and will undergo an MRI
