Elmhurst Steve is the reason why I root against the Cubs. He is the prime example of why Marty Brennamen said what he did about Cubs fans being the worst in baseball.

I have several friends who are good Cubs fans and are embarrassed of fans like Steve. When the Cubs were swept out of the playoffs last year I truly felt bad for my friends.

This year if they are beaten in the playoffs again I will still feel bad for them, but will laugh at their team's failure in private and make light of it on the forum.

If your children are Cubs fans, I hope they have to wait their entire lives for a Championship.

If the Sox lose this game, what does that tell us?

1.) Every team in the AL Central is terrible are could not beat a moderately good NL team.
2.) The Rockies aren't as bad as their record states.
3.) The Sox being in first place of the AL Central is like being the tallest midget?
4.) The Sox are showing what kind of team they truly are. Sloppy and unable to manufacture runs when needed.

Why are some of you so consumed with the Sox? I just don't get it.

It tells me that this offense, or lack thereof, will be the downfall of the Sox. This pitching overall has been great all year, and they will probably be right at the top of the AL when its all said and done. But this team just cannot get a big hit thats not a home run. Pretty frustrating for sure.

If these guys don't take two of three from the Pirates and get some momentum, the Cubs will beat the crap out of them.

These guys just got their asses whupped by the friggin' Rockies.

Not really impressed at this point.

The Cub lost two of three to the Nats, Pirates, and Reds. What is your point ?

My point is that this is a first place team, meaning they play well and win a great majority of their games.

The Sox are at home, where you are supposed win more often than not, and they played a bottom of the division team (from the supposed weaker League) and lost two out of three games.

I could see and stomach losing two of three to most teams in the AL East, but it doesn't give me great confidence seeing them lose in the way they did this weekend.

I'm just saying the team is not looking like a first place team with their sloppy play and lack of timely hitting.

Well, no surprise they lost to Cook, who only surrendered 2 Earned runs. (they were fortunate to get an unearned run on an error by the 2nd baseman) The slumbering bats of the Sox continue to make it tough on their pitchers. This team is a bad offensive team, not only because they have a number of old and/or underachieving hitters (Konerko, Swisher, Thome) but because they are stupid. In the 7th for example, Thome takes a 3-1 fastball thigh high over the heart of the plate, then strikes out on a 89 MPH fastball(can't catch up with that?) that was higher and more on the outside portion of the plate. Then Dye ends the inning trying to steal second? Stupid. This team will be lucky now to break even on the home stand. They have no real lead off hitter and Pods sure looked like a guy they should have held onto today. With 2 hits a run scored and an RBI. The funniest thing in the game was the blue dye on Swishers facial hair (Uribe too-but Swishers is more audacious) and blue eye black, I don't know whats uglier, that or his offensive production? And the sox picked this guy to do promo's....

Well since the win streak, the Sox have been swept by the Tigers, and lost 2 of 3 to the Rockies. Not good losing 5 of 6 to those 2 teams.

Chus

The Cubs have won 9 of 12 vs the Pirates on the year. :D :D

Also, with the win today they are 20 games over .500, at 45-25. :D :D

I guess it is a good thing for you and the Cubs that they hand out the trophies in June.

You cannot win any title in June, but you can sure have one start slipping away. The sox are a team that hits well against crappy pitching. They can beat up on the Royals frequently (except if Bannister is pitching-that guys tough). But put them up against decent pitching and the bats do their best Grizzly Bear in winter imitation,-they go into hibernation. I had thought they could win the crappy A.L. Central, where every other team has a losing record. But I don't think thats true anymore. With no real leadoff hitter and too many aging and underachieving players, this team will be hard pressed to hang onto the division.

There is a lot of season left to play and injuries are always a factor that can play into how things turn out. But the Cubs surely have the elements needed to compete for a title and it will be the most celebrated day in Chicago sports history, when THE CUBS END THE WAIT IN 2008!!

It tells me that they are not as good as the team that swept the Twins and they are not as bad as the team that lost 2 of 3 to the bottom feeder Rockies.

There is a lot of baseball left to be played. The Sox are a good team and they can win the Central because of their pitching, but unless they have a midseason overhaul on the offense they will not go very far in the playoffs.

Kenny appears to be working on something for this pitifully inconsistent offense.

Amid the Chicago White Sox's continually up-and-down production — after averaging 8.7 runs per game during a seven-game win streak, they scored six in three losses to the Tigers — Chicago made overtures to Kenny Lofton, only to back off because of his $2.5 million asking price.

With 2,428 hits, 622 stolen bases, a .299 average and .372 on-base percentage, is Lofton a Hall of Famer? In the opinion of Craig Messmer, whose "Stat One" is one of the most logical systems for rating players (combining performance and efficiency by doubling the net runs, adding complete bases (total bases plus walks, plus hit by pitch, plus stolen bases minus caught stealing) and dividing by plate appearances), Lofton falls just short.

His 1.000 career performance/efficiency average is slightly better than that of Dale Murphy (.992) and slightly worse than Fred Lynn's (1.009). Neither of those center fielders is in the Hall.

2.5 mil is certainly worth rolling the dice on Lofton.

Frank, you Stupid, pale, overweight, ugly loser, who doubles as a rocker wannabe (who actually is awful, from what I heard) there is no contradiction in my statements. Nobody wins a title in June, as the playoffs are months away. But the Cubs have all the elements required and are likely to add to the mix before the trading deadline. All of which leads me to believe that indeed: THE CUBS END THE WAIT IN 2008!!!

Now go off and play your guitar hero and try to tell yourself that your life has not been a total waste.

Shit, I agree. That doesn't seem like alot for an offense that could most certainly use a leadoff hitter. The fact that NOBODY has picked him up though is most curious. Who did he piss off?

Congratulations on completely missing Chus' point.

I think your stupid meatball persona is an act. It is difficult for me to believe that anyone could be so ignorant about baseball. Then again, I didn't grow up around fans of the most pathetic losing franchise in baseball history. Prior to being sentenced to live in Illinois, I had never really given the Cubs any thought, as they were the proverbial insignificant gnat on the elephant. I think, however, that I now dislike Cubs fans even more than Red Sox fans. Thank you for that.

I'll bet you $100.00 that the Yankees end up with a better record than the Cubs. Let me know if you wish to proceed, and I'll propose some terms.

If the terms are, the Cubs final season record in 2008 vs the Yankees final season record in 2008, I will take the bet right now. $100.00, the loser to donate the 100.00 to Macs charitable organization that aids families dealing with autism. So, is it a bet??? I hope you are not like Frank, who makes a bet, then backs off it.

Fuck off Darkie

Darkie-I don't need the money and I am happy to see it go to Mac's charity. Besides, if the other party loses, (as Frank already has-with 2 sox losses already on the home stand, after he had indeed agreed to the bet-Just look back at the prior posts to see) I want the fact that the bet was paid or not to be verifiable by a 3rd party.
