I'm a gambler. So I can appreciate Ozzie's gambler mentality. Whether I'm playing dice or chess, on occasion I'll make the "wrong" move with the hope of getting lucky. Sometimes it works. Usually it doesn't. But I'm always cognizant that I made the wrong move. I just didn't give a fuck. Sometimes you've just got to throw that hundo on the yo. My problem with Ozzie is that he seems blissfully unaware that he is doing it wrong. If he were to sacrifice runner to seond and third and they scratched the run out and won 2-1 and he said afterward, "I know that sacrifice is a bad percentage play, but I didn't like the way we were swinging the bats and I thought the way Danks was pitcjing, he would make a one run lead stand up.", I wouldn't hate him for being a complete fucking moron. But instead he thinks he's doing it "the right way" when all the numbers can tell you he isn't.
I'm sure Speeps will get a kick out of this considering all the emotional railing I do during the games, but overall I think Ozzie is a decent manager. I think his handling of pitchers is far better than most. But really, I think too much is made of managers. Players win and lose games. One thing I'm sure of, all Sox fans will miss Ozzie when he's gone.
Ozzie is the bad guy among the FANBOYS......they long for the days of Bevington, Lamont and Manuel.
Kenny...who has morphed into Jim Hendry, is just peachy because he is a rah rah GM who threatens to trade the entire team every July and basically does nothing. Tough guy Kenny...like Da Coach!!!
