The guy who starts game one could start a game 5. I'd rather have that be Lynn than Giolito. Lynn was clearly the best and most consistent starter. If it weren't for Rodons health issues I'd have him start game 2.

The Game 2 starter would have four days rest, and would definitely be available for a game five.

He was and he's a veteran, but he's sucked again the Astros. You can't ignore that. The pressure for Giolito being down 0-1 would be far greater than starting 0-0. The Sox need to steal 1 of the first 2 games in Houston if they're going to have a shot.

Game 1, Game 2, Game 5, whatever. Giolito needs a clean first inning. When he does that, he's generally on point for the day.

Sure if you're a cub fan and want the Sox to lose game one.

Giolito is a young pitcher who has pitched really well in Houston. Lynn has absolutely sucked in Houston and against the Astros everywhere. I wouldn't want Giolito pitching in a must win Game 2 on the road. Lynn is better equipped to handle that pressure.

and Giolito was excellent in his playoff start last year while Lynn's record has not been very good.

Giolito has to be your guy because he matches up better against the Astros lineup. People are overlooking how dominant he was in the 2nd half. Despite a somewhat disappointing 1st half, he still finished top 10 in AL ERA. He has an ability to go deeper in games and has the 5th highest K/9 in the AL.

Giolito was so dominant against them that he fricken beat their ass in Houston while they were cheating with them knowing the change-up was coming.

football and dad. My mom is renting out a theater for to watch the new Bond for his birthday and 7:30 was the only time we could all get together. He's a Cub fan (and not a rabid sports fan anyway) so it doesn't bother him. I'd feel the same way as him if it was the Cubs in the playoffs.

How long can the starters hold up? In individual games and over (hopefully) a few series?

Sox picked by few national voices. Shades of 2005.

I feel like Dylan Cease has snuck under the radar. He is top 10 in a ton of AL pitching stats but never gets mentioned. He will be key to a long run

All of the starters will. They have to cover more than 15 outs for the Sox to play deep into October.

Cease is a Garland like afterthought. And Garland came up big in the playoffs. He was great in fact.

Except for the fact Cease has better stuff than Garland ever had. Guy would be considered ace material if he pitched on a coast

I hate it. Lynn struggles with that umpire.
