\Why would Mac have the be the third party when each and every one of us is watching this train wreck on a daily basis.

See, now you have insulted me personally. If you have any doubts as to whether I will pay on a losing bet, just ask Mustang Rob.

I don't like the terms of the bet. In a creepy way, I fear that your losing would heighten your dangerous, and very strange, obsession with Dan McNeil. "Hey Dan, I gave $100.00 to your charity. Can you mention me on the air?"

God you must be stupid Darkie. How is anyone going to REALLY know if the bet was paid off by the losing party, unless there is a third party to verify it. Hell I could SAY I paid off the bet and never actually pay it. Since I suggest these terms, it should be an indication that I fully intend to pay off, if I were to lose. I don't trust people I don't know, who I have no way to track down, to be honorable and pay off the debt. Plus, in the event I were to lose a bet, I would not want the other party that I would pay, to possibly claim they had not been paid either. I know once the check cleared, I could post copies of the cancelled check, but I wouldn''t put it past some low-life to claim he had not been paid. But lets say the losing party says he paid, but did not. I call him a low life welch. I say, if you paid, post a copy of the cancelled check. He says he paid, but does not have a printer. You see how things could happen? Thats why I would want the third party. Then there is no question if the debt was paid.

Stone Roses-I don't know you or Mustang Rob, so why would his word or yours carry any weight with me? You may be very honorable and trustworthy, but I don't know that to be true or not.

As far as Mac is concerned, he knows that I am above the idea of asking favors from him for a 100.00 donation. Dan is someone I respect and I believe he feels the same way about me. He makes the MJH show the best sports talker on the air. Jurko and Harry are nice sidekicks, but Mac is the straw that stirs that drink. Besides, I would have won the bet easily and it would have been you that was donating the money.

I wouldn't bother taking Elmhurst Steve to task unless you are fully prepared, your cleats are fully planted in the ground...for his timeless, legendary comebacks such as "you must be some kind of idiot" or "you are really stupid".

How can anyone come back from that? What is your answer to that? Truly a literary genius at work, a real champion of the written word.

Don't even bother. You are either an idiot or are stupid, as it is said and done by Elmhurst Steve.

Or...you're a jabrone, it doesn't matter what you think, and the cubs apparently have already won the 2008 world series.

So to wrap up a beautiful 6 days, in which the sox got SWEPT by the Tigers (a team currently 5 under .500, even after a good stretch) and then lost 2 of 3 AT HOME against the "lowly Rockies" (I believe thats how someone described the Rockies on this thread) who are 28-41 on the season, the team from the wrong side of town gets a day off, to ponder it all. A team with no leadoff hitter and too many old and under achieving players on offense, will be hard pressed to keep it's division lead, even in a division that has no other team with a winning record, right now.

But the good news, is that Chicago does sport the team with the BEST record in Baseball. The Cubs, with their latest victory, are now 20 games over .500, at 45-25 :D Coming off a WINNING series at Toronto, the Cubs are now looking good on the road, as well as being DOMINANT at home. Having won their last road trip, the Majors top team, will finish this trip in Tampa, facing a team that has proven to be tough at home as well. Then they will return to THE SHRINE to face the weak hitting sox, in Wrigley, where the Cubs have won their last 11 straight. With the Cubs sweep of Atlanta, and their trip to Toronto, in which they won 2 of 3, the Cubs were 5-1 during the same stretch that the Sox were 1-5. Lucky for the Sox they play in such a lousy division. In either the A.L. East both Boston and Tampa have better records and in the West, the Angels at 42-28 are decidedly better, while Oakland, the second place team in that division, has the exact same record. But at least the sox fans will get a great look at a beautiful, historic, ballpark and a great baseball team, when the Cubs lay the smack-down on em, this coming Friday-Sunday at Wrigley Field. Home of the future 2008 MLB champions, the Cubs.

You are right Elmhurst. I am extremely stupid. You can tell my all my technical certifications and my degrees, as only stupid people actually earn those things.
How silly of me to think that anyone other than Dan McNeil could possibly verify that the debt had been settled. I mean, there is room for ambiguity when both parties in the wager acknowledge that the debt has been settled isn't there? Yup, I am one dumb muchacho.

If this is true, then I want one of them to respond to this post admitting that they are in agreement with you. I'm enjoying your posts here too, but it's because I'm laughing that someone can be as big of a meatball as you. So far, the score is 3-0 in terms of Cubs fans who think you are a dumbass.

You are quickly becoming a running joke on this forum, and you are too dumb to even realize it.

I'm still waiting on one of these Cubs fans to step up and admit that they are in agreement with you. Methinks that you either completely made it up, or that there are some people who are encouraging you because they are enjoying how much of a dumbass you look.

Maybe you can call up Mac and ask if he likes your posts so you can brag about it here that you've been on the radio.

You only highlight one part of the response I made. Go back and read the rest. In it, you will see some of the possible issues that might arise. If one party says they paid up but didn't, how can I prove the debt was not paid? I can ask that he post a copt of the cancelled check to prove whether or not it was paid, but he could say he doesnt have a printer. Do you understand this time? For a guy who claims to be well educated, it shouldn't have been so difficult to understand this.

For a guy who claims to be educated, you seem to be very challenged where constructing a sentence is concerned Darkie.

If you had a wager with Frank, and it came to pass that you won, and both you and Frank agree the debt was settled, why on God's Green Earth would you require DAN FREAKIN MCNEIL of all people to verify anything? Steve, you look more and more like an idiot each day.
Ok, I am joining the ranks of "Troowiddit".

God, you don't get it, Darkie. What if Frank never paid, but said he did. I tell everyone he didn't pay, but he could say that was bullshit and claim he did.I don't trust people I don't know, so I cover all the bases. It could be Jurko or Harry, or Silvy or Waddle that got the money for charity. The point was to have a 3rd party who would be able to verify if the debt was settled. Mac happens to be the only one who has a charitable organization that he is connected to. So thats who came to mind immediately. Now be a good boy and read this to someone who can help you understand.

Still waiting on a Cubs fan to say that they agree with you....

If you aren't willing to back up your mouth by any bet besides a call to someone who you talk to on the air 4 times a year then just stop calling it out. Frank Coztanza is a very accessible person on here. Many people have met him before.

Here's an idea. Sign up for a paypal account. The winner can pay the loser over paypal. If there is shenanigans called, each person can be asked to provide a screen shot of their transaction log. This can be done without bothering Mac with some stupid bet.

The fact is that you like to show off that you have money. I don't know how much money you have, but you love putting people down for where they sit. You love telling us you own your own business. You love telling us that 100 dollars doesn't mean much to you. "(That was one reason for the losing party to have to donate the money to charity-besides, I don't need the $100.00)".

So, for all future bets, setup a paypal account and challenge someone that way.

BR-I will keep that in mind. I certainly do have a paypal account. One thing that can't be disputed-at least I have the stones to put my money, where my mouth is. I don't run my mouth and then back away from a bet like stoneroses, or agree to a bet and then try to walk away from it, like Frank Constanza has. Thats the sign of people with no conviction behind their words. You cannot accuse me of that. If you want to bet the Pirates series, I am perfectly willing to bet that the Sox will not sweep. Let me know. You can see that I already won the bet Frank initially agreed to, as the Sox indeed have already lost 2 games on the homestand. It was a sucker bet, no doubt. But I bet with my head and not my heart. At the end of the year, I am confident it will show that I would have easily won the bet with Stoneroses. Heck, the Cubs are 20 over .500 and the Yankees are just 4 over and are unlikely to wind up close to the record the Cubs will finish with. I make bets that are mathematically sound and don't get goaded into bets based on emotion. Again, let me know if you want to bet the Pirate series that starts tomorrow. But if you say its a bet, don't be a Caller Bob after the fact like Frank. If the Pirates are as terrible as some Sox fans claimed, when the Cubs were beating them 9 out of 12 games, the Sox should have a pretty fair chance to sweep. However, I know that the Pirates are not a crappy team. They are 33-27 in games not involving the Cubs. But feel free to bet with your heart. I'll be happy to take the money.

What kind of reality do you live in? I never offered a bet to you. Anyone would be an idiot to make an even bet with someone for a sweep no matter how easy you think it would be. You can get much better odds on betting the money line for each game.

You have shown you will put your money where you mouth is as long as it's an excuse to also put your mouth firmly on Mac's ass.

I only make bets with friends for fun. I don't do it to prove something to a bunch of people on a message board or to show that I can afford to bet $100. I will however make a suggestion for you.

If the Cubs are clearly the superior team, take them to win 5 games against the Sox this year. Put your money where your mouth is. I'm sure you would get a taker who would be willing to go against you on that bet. The Cubs win 5 out of 6(or 6 out of 6) and you win. The Cubs only win 4,3,2,1, or 0 against the Sox you lose. It's easy to say you'll accept lopsided bets, but are you willing to put your money where your mouth is and offer that?

The Cubs are clearly the better team. Are you willing to put up that bet then that the Cubs sweep one series and take 2 out of 3 of the other?

Just to be clear, I'm not offering this bet because I think your whole "bet me $100" thing is stupid, but I want to know if you are willing to put your money where your mouth is.

Since I never offered such a dumb bet up, it would not qualify as putting my money where my mouth is. It would be putting my money on something concocted by someone else. As stated, I bet when the bet makes mathematical sense. A 5-1 record amonts to a .833 win percentage. That would be a ridiculous bet. Nice try. But as I said before, I don't get goaded into dumb bets.

You're on! But only if Jurko holds the money (I think he needs a stalker too).

He does, however, get goaded into stupid arguments that make him look like a meatball idiot all the time. He's not afraid to come out and look like an asshole, you gotta give him that.

Many that is true, but an incomplete statement.

I get into whatever discussions/arguments I want to. Coming from someone who can't put a sentence together half the time and fails to get their facts straight most of the time, your criticism means nothing. Now go get your shine box Darkie. Then dust it off, turn that som-bitch sideways and shove it straight up your monkey ass!!
