I still wonder what would have happened if Lamont started Alvarez & Bere in games 1 & 2 of the ALCS instead of the clearly fading McDowell & Fernandez.

I can remember having that thought at the time. McDowell was limping into the postseason. But that's a tough spot for any manager. Especially with a prickly bastard like McDowell.
