Maybe if their tongues weren't so far up the Cub's ass they could have analyzed and predicted this.

These frontrunning losers at WSCR are realizing that nobody knows what will happen when the Cubs play an actual team in meaningful games (it could seriously be until the postseason) and that the White Sox could get swept in Baltimore and still come out of a brutal stretch of 10 games against top flight opponents a respectable 6-4. Not falling for it Speigs, you had your chance to talk about the Sox in the offseason and passed on it.

i dont pretend to udnerstand the concepts behind these baseball advanced metrics.... but a team era of 2.24 that is nearly half the league average is not sustainable... is that not flukey?

It is and it's not. They have won at a clip they cannot sustain. There is no doubt about that. They have an imbalanced team, with really good starting pitching. But their offense is not real good and will struggle enough to make the kind of start they are off to unsustainable. But the additions they made with Frazier and Latos as well as the catchers....good changes. Plus, they had a number of players underachieve in 2015, so if they just perform to expected levels, they are improved on that front. Finally, Eaton has been terrific in RF. As much as he was not an especially good CF, he has been very good in RF. Even if Austin Jackson is nothing special, he has helped improve their defense, with Eaton moving over. They are playing well and should finish with a winning record, unless injuries to starters should occur. I still don't see them winning their division by any means. KC will win the division. But they should stay respectable even if they miss a wild card berth.

"I still don't see them winning their division by any means." -- said about a team with a 3.5 game lead on the entire American League.

Steve I want you to give me that argument. Remember, you have established that it is absolutely impossible for the Sox to win their division, you have no wiggle room.

The only way I can see it happening is if KC had more than one serious injury to crucial players. KC is by far the better team. Look at the start the 1977 Sox got off to and how they wound up with just 77 wins. To some degree, this start is fools gold. I do see them being slightly over .500, but they are just not an elite team. Respectable, but nothing special.

I got the year wrong. THEY WON 77 games in 1987 after a great start to the season. I typed in 1977 rather than 87. In any case, it was a huge collapse. I don't expect they will collapse this season, but do expect a significant "correction".

It has long been known that Steve's baseball knowledge is extremely limited. His opinions are either as stupid as can be, or so obvious that Stevie Wonder can see them. Facts are his real weakness. Whether it's simple math, or a stat that can be confirmed easily with a visit to http://www.baseball-reference.com, he struggles to make sense.

You wrote, and I'm quoting directly, "I still dont see them [the White Sox] winning their division by any means." What changed since then (you wrote that about 45 minutes ago)? Because it went from being impossible to now having at least one way you can "see it happening."

Steve, how are you Miami Marlins doing? Dont think I'm ever going to forget you called them a good team.

They were 10-20 in their first thirty games in 1987. You wanna try again?

Even if the Sox get swept in Baltimore the Sox will have gone a respectable 6-4 against the absolute cream of the American League crop. The Cubs meanwhile continue their tour of AAA....

I do agree with Steve when he went out on a 5' diameter limb and said that the Sox will not finish the season with a .727 win percentage.
