It just seems like it is a way to give him a better life. Like a Syrian refugee who puts his kid on a raft to Miami should I send that raft out to Wrigleyville?

It would be more humane if you put him up for adoption.

All kidding aside, you raise your kid a Sox fan because that is what you are! You want your son or daughter to be like you, right?

These things run in cycles. The Cubs cycle took 71 years.

I was raised to like both the Cubs & Sox - I know, it may be against the rules but it is what it is.

Mom loved Cubs, Dad loved Sox.

I get the best & worst of both worlds. However, I root Sox when they play each other and that will never change.

Either way, BRick, start now. Instill their fandom now. My son is 100% Bears fan and I assumed his younger sister was one. She had a BF for years and is now a Green Bay because of him. :x

He's gone but now I have a CheeseHead daughter. :(

I'm pretty sure I saw a picture of what happens when a 3 year old Syrian tries to float to Miami. It didn't end well.

This was a moment of weakness. I now realize that someone like Mark Cuban or Steve Ballmer will own the White Sox by the time he starts liking sports.

The future is so bright he is wearing shades.

Let's him be a fan of both. Don't make him choose. My brother and I took this path and it's been a torturous one. We cashed in once and looking forward to cashing in within a week.

A guy I know moved to Chicago from Buffalo. I told him that he could not be a Cub fan because being both a Cub and Bills fan was too much burden for any one man.

I don't believe someone can truly be a die-hard fan of both teams. Not that you have to hate one or the other, but IMO there's always one team that gets favored over the other.

I agree with this. You can like both, you can root for both...One team is your real team though.

Both of you are wrong. I was a Cubs fan first and then I became a Sox fan. Whenever they match up I root for the team that had the best chance to go to the playoffs. If both suck I don't root for anyone. I've been a baseball fan for about 30 years and I've been a fan of both teams for about 28 years. I may have shed a tear in celebration in 2005 and I imagine that the same may happen this year. People love their kids equally and I love my baseball teams equally.

Up With People!

You think this makes you the best fan but it actually makes you the worst. I'd go as far as to say you are no fan at all

My son will be rooting for the teams I like, until he is old enough to think for himself. So, I know 1000% he will jump ship on the Redskins, and I will not fault him for a second.

I used to think I was a fan of both teams, then when the Sox won in 2005 it felt like I just watched the San Diego Padres win.

Not hating, Nas. Were speaking the truth. You're a front runner, a bandwagoner. Nothing wrong with it, but you cant deny it.

What do you mean what? You just said you root for whatever team has the best chance at going to the playoffs. By definition and your own admission, you are a front runner. Just just own it.

Well, the Bears have been awful for most of my life, so that is just heaping on the nut shots.

Did you read my post? That's being a smart Chicago baseball fan. I've witnessed enough bad baseball and deserve to be rewarded. I would feel the same way about my kids if they were competing against one another. I just wouldn't say it.

That too. I love the Bears but baseball brings out the kid in me. I'll take the Sox or Cubs winning over the Bears.
