There's admitting that you'll have a losing season, then there is insulting the game of baseball. |

Garcia as the CF? Yikes |

No he isn't. He can barely stumble around RF. This is not the team that is going to start in April. |

RFDC wrote: Garcia as the CF? Yikes That's never going to happen. Tilson would be the centerfielder on that team. Whichever "expert" created that depth chart should be laughed off the Internet. Anyway, I would guess the Sox aren't done making moves and the team they come out of Spring with will look different than that one. Maybe worse. |

Looked this Tilson guy up. Very underwhelming. Oh well |

The dark side of it is that if Moncada is not fantastic almost from the beginning, the entire house of cards falls. |

Why wouldn't Moncada be the guy at either 2nd or 3rd to start the year? From everything I have read he appears to be ML ready. Put the guy in the lineup and see what he can do. |

Well, I can say for an almost certainty he will not be there on day 1. That is OK. I think all of these guys should spend time in the minors for full team evaluation no matter what they do in spring training. |

Last year Moncada started in A+, then went to AA, then was called to the Red Sox and while he was in MLB they changed his position, hence the bit of struggle last year. I am perfectly fine with leaving him in the minors for a couple/three months. |

Also, they are one of about 5 other teams trying this. Baseball doesn't want tanking then it needs to change the way draft picks are awarded. |

The Sox can call him up in June and he'll still be recognized as the best 3rd baseman in Chicago by mid-July. |

The true dark side of the rebuild is what if these prospects are mostly busters? Sox will be bottom dwellers for years. |

Hahn even said shortly after the trade that he expects Moncada to begin the 2017 season at AAA. Come on guys, this process cannot be and should not be rushed. You don't want to screw up a player by rushing him up the ladder. Embrace the process and realize it will take 3-4 years or more IF IT IS DONE RIGHT AND THEY GOT THE RIGHT PLAYERS. |

I thought the dark side of the rebuild was JoeDaPaver trying to steal $ by not doing the Lakemoor Estates driveway? |

Then they will have great draft choices to use and if they use them wisely will get really good players with them. But obviously it would delay them in becoming relevant again. |

Even if he has a great spring training, he should begin the season at AAA if for no other reason than to delay his service time and ensure another season of team control. They are not winning anything meaningful for a few years, so whether or not he's the best candidate for a position this spring or not, he should begin 2017 at AAA. |

It's all about control. None of these guys will sniff the major leagues next year. Even Moncada. Can't wait to see the pile of trash they trot out there next year. |

I would love to see Davidson make an MLB player of himself in 2017. |

Giolito is nowhere near a full scale reclamation project but he will require a good bit of work. The Nationals suck at developing pitchers and keeping them healthy (See: Ross, Strasburg), and I've think they've done some damage to Giolito. Hopefully nothing that cannot be corrected, but correcting it will take time. I wouldn't expect him until July, early returns from Charlotte may be really ugly as he unlearns all the Nationals taught him. There also could be imminent injuries brought on by the Nationals bungling too that need to be addressed. Rizzo was really keen on dumping Giolito, I'm sure there's a reason why beyond the underwhelming debut. Lopez and Moncada will be up sooner, probably around Memorial Day. Sox dont need to rush anyone along, the only advantage to pushing Moncada into the starting lineup is April is get him acclimated (or at least acquainted) with the unique climate of Chicago. |

Not said to be dickish, but how much different would that ultimately be from their previous trajectory? Instead of 62 wins they'd have 76? 79? 83? Not materially different at all really. |

Or they do a Bryant where they bring someone up after they can count the year. |
