Well they aren't going to spend $15m and put themselves in the penalty box for two years over this guy, especially with the new rules that really benefit them going forward. If he's not good to go in six months then yes, they will probably be all over him and perhaps even blow their entire pool for 17-18 to get him. Wait and see. He's definitely a good fit. |

Otani may or may not come out next year nobody really seems to know. There are more reason than just him to not drop $20m on this guy. If they had planned on going over their pool and incurring the penalty from the beginning and stockpiled talent accordingly it would be different, but enduring two years of the penalty for one player would require a very special player. Not sure Robert is on that level. I doubt the Sox do it they had a chance to do something similar with Moncada a couple years ago and backed off. They are one of the most shy MLB teams when it comes to intl FA and the one year they went out and got a guy it was Micker Adolfo who looks like he sucks. |
