Hope they go best player available even if it's a pitcher.

Here are five I like who could be available around when the Sox pick at 11.

1. Austin Beck, OF, HS
2. Adam Haseley, OF, Virginia
3. J.B. Bukauskas, RHP, North Carolina
4. Jordon Adell, OF, HS
5. Jeren Kendall, OF, Vanderbilt

The more I've seen Kendall the less I like him, but a good defensive CF'er with pop in his bat is valuable even with contact issues. I think Bukauskas is the sleeper, like his arm and may only need a minor mechanical tweak to become a frontline prospect.

between 1990 and 2016 the Sox had one good 1st rounder: Chris Sale

so, it doesn't matter.

Aaron Rowand and Gio Gonzalez don't count as good?

Gio was a sandwich pick or something. They both may have been. Rowan's wasn't that good anyway

Neither were first round picks.

Alex Fernandez wasn't bad all the way back in 1990.

That was it til Sale.

I'm leaning towards Evan White. Good hitter with plus power. 60 runner could possibly play CF but he's a 70 defender at 1B. He's really good over there. He's just a good solid all around player.

They should draft the pederast.

Don't we believe that at some point a guy has paid his debt to society. I see people say that in academic discussions and then deny it every time they are presented with an actual case.

He can be a lumberjack or mine worker or Uber driver. I can't believe any team would tarnish their name by associating with this guy.

Evan White is one of the more intriguing players right now. Callis has him linked to the Sox. If somehow Haesley or Smith fall, they'd be great options, too. I hope they stay away from Kendall. Based on Hostetler's handling of the draft, I think they will.

Bakauskas has also fallen after a poor start recently, so maybe he's around for the Sox.

They had a great run in the late 80s. McDowell, Ventura, Thomas. Whoever was in charge back then knew what he was doing.

Was just about to say that. Also got Karko the Barbarian in '82. Not a great hitter, but good arm and good with pitchers. 10-12 years. Some pop and one magnificent inside-the-park home run.

You are using Ian Happ as an example of success?

.784 OPS from a rookie ain't too shabby. How is Carson "Mediocre AAA reliever" Fulmer doing?

Happ has 82 big league at bats, and Fulmer has 18 big league innings.

I know nothing about the MLB draft really...I'll read up on whoever they pick and react accordingly. An outfielder would be nice.

No, No, No, you are confused. We aren't talking about Yoan Moncada.

Anyways, you could line up every GM in baseball at this point and they would ALL take Happ over "AAA Fulmer" right now.
