Calling it now. The only thing in his way is the Sox not being over .500 and Giolito being punished for it in awards balloting. That or Chris Sale gets a lifetime achievement Cy that he "wraps up" in late-July before running a 5.50 ERA the rest of the year.

I would give you equal chances of winning the Cy Young in 2018.

At least they don't have 2/3 of the outfield "covered" by Schwarber and Happ.

Heyward has to earn that $200M.

 Glad that makes you feel better about Giolito winning the Cy.

what happened to Bourjos that you said the Cubs signed to be like Jon Jay this year?

No. When Ellsbury came up, he played. Almora is a platoon player. The Cubs know it. That's why they're using him that way and why they got Jon Jay and now Peter Bourjos.

I'm sorry you're so upset your team has a shitty outfield. Maybe they can win in spite of it. Shouldn't you be celebrating the acquisition of Yu Darvish (10-12, 3.86) instead of crying to me?

We are just trying to get rid of all the bad outings before we go on a tear.

3 runs over 6 innings isn't bad. It's not great but it keeps the team in the game. Lester would kill for outings like that.

Quality starts will be the bedrock of his career. He did plenty to win.

Based on this logic you must have yesterday's Detroit pitcher penciled in for MVP.

Yeah and I said he wouldn't even be on the team unless they had injuries that necessitated keeping him. I thought he might stay in the organization at AAA in case of an injury, but he's completely gone, which is fine by me.

As far a Giolito is concerned, I saw him pitch against the Cubs in spring training on March 10th and came away impressed. I think he's a top of the rotation guy in the making. Not a Cy Young contender in 2018, but certainly a guy who should have a solid season and wins in double figues, even on a team that will likely lose 90 games.

Doesn't matter how young he is. What has he shown that makes you believe he will be good?

He’s shown flashes after a brilliant month last September. Time to give up on him though. I mean the great ones never struggle at first.

There were whispers among MLB scouts that Giolito might not be the goods even before he was traded to the White Sox.

Well then he must be finished. Are there similar whispers about Jimenez, Dunning, Hansen etc.?

No room in the starting rotation anyway with Rodon, Kopech, Hansen, Dunning and Cease.
