Serious question, but I got some vibes today that Hawk is showing some signs of dementia. Did anyone else pick up on that?

Just in that bottom of the 1st, he said the Sox were a few plays away from being 5-1 on the road trip. That would've been quite the feat as they only played 5 games due to a postponement. Then that same inning he referred to Matt Davidson as Abreu as he came around on the triple. It just seemed he was really out of it and just didn't sound like himself at all. It was kind of a bit scary to listen to as he didn't sound like Hawk at all.

He sounded horse by the end. I caught the should have been thing about the Sox record. Dementia didn’t come to mind.

saying crazy shit is one thing. Sounding like he did today was something entirely else.

It was just an at bat after that he says "Abreu coming around" when it was Davidson. Abreu wasn't even on the basepaths. That's a mistake I've never heard from him before.

My wife and I are half paying attention to the Cubs game. She thought Bryant was Zobrist, and I thought it was Russell. I just saw the ball ripped and figured it was Addy again. We probably both have dementia and are definitely deaf and blind!

yeah, but you aren't calling the game. I've listened to Hawk do this for 20 years and I've never heard him do that. He'll compare some mediocre player to Catfish Hunter or something all of the time, but he won't get the wrong player on the basepaths being sent home.

You should hear me yell at the tv. I went nuts when Garcia let that ball get past him and go to the wall in the 9th.

He sounded pretty emotional towards the end of the broadcast for sure. Sounded like he was choking up a bit just discussing routine stuff. I think he’s gonna miss it a lot. Kind of a bummer.

I will refrain from starting a "Hank Today" thread.

Yeah, it's been a big part of my life for 27 consecutive years, so I can imagine how hard it is for him.

Ogie: I was thinking the exact same thing, both with the 5-1 stuff and the calling Davidson Abreu. I figure he's probably just rusty and has a lot on his mind.

I;m watching the replay of today's game. Man Hawk is awesome. I think if you listen to him daily you probably get tired of him fast. But in long laspses he's great.

The people who complain about Hawk brought us Bernstein, Will Cain, Jason Whitlock, Colin Cowherd and Len Kasper.
