He's the new Jose Quintana. He's given up 4 earned runs in 4 starts and he has an ERA below 1.50 BUT he's 0-2 for the season. #LosingPitcherLopez

Apples and oranges. Lopez has started 17 career games, 11 for the Sox.

Quintana started over 150 for the Sox.

True but we've seen this movie before. If the Sox offense scored some runs he would easily be 4-0.

Lets see how Lopez does when the Sox are a good, or even average, team. Of course that may never happen in our lifetimes.

This team is so much worse than any team Quintana has ever been on. Let's have the conversation when Lopez has 180 career starts.

Who is "the other guy"?

The opposing pitchers he's faced. Even Winning Pitcher Quintana has been better based on your standard.

Lopez hardly has a career. Don't be silly to try to make a bad point.

Quintana got a win today in a high scoring game in Colorado. Yeah, he pitched better than the other guy. And if that game had been played in Chavez Ravine, Quintana still probably would have won and there almost certainly would not have been 16 runs scored and you'd claim he "pitched better" because he allowed less in tougher hitting conditions.

Get your own material.

But for real, he’s gonna be great. Definitely better than Q.

Career doesn't matter. Clearly based on your standard Lopez has pitched good enough to lose this year. The Sox offense has NOTHING to do with his results because the opposing pitcher had to pitch in the same conditions.

I thought Giolito was going to be great or was it Kopach. Before him is was Fulmer and Rodon and now it is Lopez and Cease.

Hard to keep the flavor of the week straight with White Sox fans.

Yeah. The White Sox really struggle with developing pitchers. Kopach is a failure. Smart insight.

The sample size doesn't matter. According to JORR there is no such thing as run support and the pitchers on the other teams have pitched in the same conditions but have been better. According to JORR Jose "8 ERA" Quintana has pitched better than Lopez because he's won.

JORR has repeatedly maintained that sample size does matter.

Only for determining if a pitcher is good or bad.

I didn't say Kopach was a failure. Funny that out of all the pitchers I listed, Kopach is the one you chose to defend.

I will atleast let him come up and give up 8 runs to the Stros before I start bashing him.

How about you spell his name correctly if you wish to be taken seriously.

Incorrect.

Nas wrote:

Incorrect. According to JOrr, there is "no such thing as run support, etc etc" over the course of MANY starts. During a single game, or maybe two games, this might be the case.

Jose Quintana started 180 games for the White Sox and had a losing record. There is a reason for that, and it's not solely just 'lack of run support'

I think Lopez has been phenomenal outside of a few walks. He's limiting the damage and striking folks out. The offense has just been awful when he starts. I think with the exception of 1 outing Quintana has mostly sucked this year. JORR would disagree with me because Lopez hasn't won.

I didn't misspell a name and I don't need you to take me serious. Try to be less emotional. It's possible to have a discussion with someone who disagrees with you without freaking out.

If you're going to be a disciple you have to get you JORRisms right. They entire first paragraph is incorrect

I meant Juiced. I know that Kopech is an incredibly challenging word for him.

I'm clearly not freaking out. Lopez has had 4 starts this year and 17 in his career (with a .500 record). You want to compare him to a guy who started 180 games for the Sox.

That would be like taking Javier Baez's last 8-10 games and trying to say he is better than Ryne Sandberg or Joe Morgan. It simply doesn't work like that.

Ryne Sandberg had a losing record for his career. And that was a huge sample size. Javier Baez is a better player. Wins matter.

Let me know when they call up Kopach. I think we should all judge the teams and players by their performances at this point in April. Cubs in 4th is about right.

Yeah, because a guy who bats four times a game and stands at second base has as much effect as a starting pitcher.

Hell, I mean, how are we supposed to even judge position players since we don't have the concept of wins or losses for them? Simply no way to define performance for them.
