Yeah. Thonton had him 0-2 and threw him a fastball for his homer. Stupid. 3 breaking balls out of the zone and he would have swung and missed at one of them for the strike out.

Sox will be fine, I am a cub fan, but smart enough to know the Sox will be a 90 game winner this year. Good Luck.

90 wins for the sox this year isn't a very intelligent prediction.

Atleast he didn't say 90 for the Cubbies. With all of Lou's reasons for a slow start the Cubs should break the 10 win mark around the middle of May.

Lou, " ah, it takes 12 games to get a feel for the team."
Lou, " ah, I thought I was still managing for the Reds."
Lou, " It's cold in Chicago, I did much better in the warm weather in Tampa. :? "
Lou, " We have alot of talent in Chicago, it's just that they play basketball and football."
Lou, " This team is not built for cold weather, it's built to hit lots of homeruns and hope the fans are drunk enough to not notice that we are behind by 10 runs."
Lou, " Will be fine once Arod gets here."

Sox have been a .500 team (or maybe even below that) since the all-star break, and this year is starting off similar to how last year ended. I've been fine with the pitching for the most part, but the hitting seems to be HR or nothing.

Any concern here that this team just isn't that good, or was last year's 2nd half and early slow start this year an aberration ?

It was actually McDougal but the same end game.

What's up with Jermaine Dye? Left 5 on last night. Hitting .211 and 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position.

it's too small a sample size, with too many variables, to talk individual production at this point in the season. remember chris shelton last year? exactly.

however, BD's point is a good one. the sox project -- not only by baseball prospectus, but also ZIPS and the hardball times -- to have a record hovering around .500 this year. ZIPS and BP are a little bearish on the Sox, pegging them below .500 with less than 80 wins (72 for BP, 73 for ZIPS) while the hardball times has the sox at around 83 wins this season. i believe this is all based on exactly what BD pointed out, that the Sox are trending towards mediocrity. BP has been consistently accurate within ~ 70% the past few years when it comes to hitters, and they have thome and dye regressing to the mean based on their age and its effects on historical production. konerko figures to be a shade below his three year streak of ~40/~100, which would make him the best hitter on the team.

The sox are back to being to being "unclutchable". They can't hit with baserunners on and their pitchers can't get out of a tough situation. Garland immediately gives up a two run homer when he was lights out for 4 2/3 innings after Joe Crede and Taguchi screw up a double play that would have ended the inning. That broke the game open.

I was just being nice, but since sox fans cant take a compliment, here it goes.

But its ok for Ed Famer and Hawk to make the weather excuse. Ozzie isbeing exposed for the dope that he is and most sox fans are getting ready for the david aardsma cy young run. Sox fans are becoming what they hate, cub fans. Lol.....Wheeeeeeeee

how? Ozzie isnt up there swinging as ice cold bat. ozzie wasnt coming out of the bullpen and blowing leads.

and he's also not making excuses...saying that his team's offense sucks and that they need to start hitting now regardless of the weather. he's not making any excuses like that doughboy in the cubbie dugout.

have fun losing in atlanta.

Well, a washed up steroid freak beat your team last night, Lol....but if McCarthy loses his next start, you will be happy, you are the #1 example why some sox fans have the rep they have, claim to be a expert baseball guy, but really just a band wagon jumping mope.

Worry about the Sox, its what you should be doing.

"Worry about the Sox, its what you should be doing."

This coming from the person who mentions Ozzie Guillen in every post, and also comes over to the White Sox section to bash him.

My prediction: Ozzie Guillen will be coaching the White Sox after Lou Pinella is no longer coaching the Cubs, and will win more playoff games.

All coaching and managing quality aside, Ozzie will be undone by the rampant political correctness machine that is running in overdrive in theis country. if they got Imus, they can get Ozzie.

Lol....I love you Frank. You call other people childish, but you hope all ex sox players do badly for their new teams, so it doesnt reflect poorly on the White Sox. You are a piece of work.

I dont CARE what you think of my sigs, because if it was the other way around, you would have them all hanging on your wall in your parents basement were I assume you live.

I also dont find it childish to post a sig of a guy hitting a home run, you dont like it because its of Sammy Sosa hitting off the one year wonder.

Imus was not undone by the people complaining. He was undone by sponsors. You very well could be right, but I have a hard time seeing sponsors dropping out of White Sox baseball because of Ozzie. He'll get fined. He'll get suspended.

The fact is that currently he is the type of character that White Sox fans love. He is interesting and keeps the White Sox on the front page.

Would I be shocked if that led to his downfall? No.

With his thin skin and his passion to call be burritos, I assume some sponser one day will tired of it, even KW said last year that he thinks there might be a day he would have to let Ozzie go if he didnt change and Ozzie isnt going to change.

Personally I don't care a goddam what Ozzie calls people. i could care less if he says the EFF AY GEE word. I just care if he can manage or not. Unfortunatly, this is not how the population at large works.

well then, jon garland must be the first "one year wonder" to make 2 consecutive all star teams..

ive also never heard of a "one year wonder" leading the MLB in wins (tied with carpenter at 36) over that same 2 years span..

i dont just root against former sox players...in fact, i root against all players who arent on the white sox. though, that concept is probably too hard for you to grasp.

couldnt care less what you think about me, or my parents basement, ex-sox players. have fun following your cubs blow yet another season. 100 years of futility my friend...thats a whole century!

After Sammy's over the top bunny hop when he hit the three run shot, my first pitch tonight would be right at his ear hole.

Hey Coz, what does the Cubs have to do with the Sox throwing Stoopid Sammy an 0-2 fastball?
Fact is neither team is playing good ball right now, and we should all be equally pissed at our players.

And that is your main issue, not if the Sox win, its better for you if the cubs lose, that makes you a moron, congrats on that.

By the way sox boy, way to pay attention to the game, the homer was off Macdougal, yes, you are a true fan.

Fact is neither team is playing good ball right now, and we should all be equally pissed at our players.

Agreed, but if the Sox are playing bad, Frank wants to deflect it by hoping all ex soxs and the cubs do poorly, its a stupid way to be a fan.

I have been saying to anyone who will listen (and those numbers drop every day) that if the best thing any team can do is throw one past his sizeable head. he's so damn afraid of the ball after Soloman Torres that a good beaner might just keep him even further away from the plate. Why in the world anyone would pitch him below his letters (he can't catch up with a letter high fastball anymore) or inside of 3 inches off the outside portion of the plate is beyond me.
This was a poor pitch sequence by Mcdougall, or a badly executed pitch.

i know darkside. pathetic start for both clubs.

the difference is, im not going into the cubs forum, posting stupid pictures, and saying "im not a cubs fan, just a baseball fan. but..." and then saying something anti-cub and starting a shouting match like fred's nut here

Well it would seem that Ozzie thinks much like you do. I just heard on MJH he seems to be planning on puttin one in his ear. This is the kind of thing that's gonna get Ozzie in the hot water with the league. Why can't he just send someone out there to pop him and keep his mouth shut about it? Why's he gotta brag?
