Reading from another board, the conclusion is that he(Jake) wasn't wearing his walking boot, and this individual has never experienced this young of a person re-injuring this. Perhaps an IQ test should be required with our 1st rd picks? |

Bad draft pick to begin with. If there is no improvement next year, I would clean house. |

honestly they might get bailed out of shit like this and Giolito's arm falling off because Eloy Jimenez is basically Manny Ramirez with better defense and if they put any one of the semi-competent, quasi-.500 rosters they had before the sell-off around him they'll make the playoffs because he'll just carry them. |

His arm hasn't fallen off. His control is not there. |

So....it's great they re-stocked the farm system via fire sale. Still....bad at drafting in the first round. That's not going to work. |

Anderson and it seems almost certainly Collins will be contributing big leaguers. I really like Burdi and when he comes back you will too. Fulmer and Burger were whiffs. Burger largely because he was off the charts retarded. Rodon wound up being a little dead-on-arrival and underwhelming but overall he wasn't really a bust as far as baseball goes. He made it to the majors and had some good runs. Overall they've done fine drafting in the first round. They are not stupid. They do not try to be the smartest guys in the room. They dont draft all out duds either, they get these guys to the majors which is a lot more than you can say for most other franchises. Even the Dodgers, one of those teams everyone wants to be, have only really gotten Walker Buehler in the first round the last five years (Will Smith is OK too). |

Anderson contributes bad defense and nothing more. He isn't an automatic out like he was last year, but he needs to have a near 900 OPS to make up for his terrible defense. It appears he may be a backup infielder at best. |

The power is pretty good. |

I really don't care about power or OB% from the shortstop. As I said, unless 'Timmay' gets his OPS to around 900, he needs to vastly improve his defense or he is a detriment to this team. |

You yourself just said that Eloy Jimenez is a better Manny Ramirez. The terrible lineup should be gone in the next couple of years. I'm afraid Anderson's bad defense won't be. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see him improving enough with the glove to be an everyday SS on a championship team. |

I see no impetus to make a move there yet and absolutely no reason to say the draft pick was wasted. 18. Los Angeles Dodgers: Chris Anderson, RHP, Jacksonville 19. St. Louis Cardinals: Marco Gonzales, LHP, Gonzaga 20. Detroit Tigers: Jonathon Crawford, RHP, Florida 21. Tampa Bay Rays: Nick Ciuffo, C, Lexington (S.C.) HS 22. Baltimore Orioles: Hunter Harvey, RHP, Bandys HS (Catawba, N.C.) 23. Texas Rangers: Alex Gonzalez, RHP, Oral Roberts 24. Oakland Athletics: Billy McKinney, OF, Plano (Texas) West HS 25. San Francisco Giants: Christian Arroyo, SS, Hernando HS (Brooksville, Fla.) 26. New York Yankees: Eric Jagielo, 3B, Notre Dame 27. Cincinnati Reds: Phil Ervin, OF, Samford 28. St. Louis Cardinals**: Rob Kaminsky, LHP, St. Joseph Regional HS (Montvale, N.J.) 29. Tampa Bay Rays***: Ryne Stanek, RHP, Arkansas 30. Texas Rangers#: Travis Demeritte, SS, Winder-Barrow HS (Winder, Ga.) 31. Atlanta Braves##: Jason Hursh, RHP, Oklahoma State 32. New York Yankees###: Aaron Judge, OF, Fresno State 33. New York Yankees&: Ian Clarkin, LHP, Madison HS (San Diego) Obviously you'd rather have Judge, but other than that I think Anderson is the cream of this crop. |

Maybe he is. That still doesn't mean he plays a good enough shortstop to play 140 games on a Championship/Playoff team. |

They could have been a decent team this year had they made an effort in free agency (Moustakas would be awesome to have), done a little more with the pen and started the year with Kopech and Eloy on the big league roster. That's on Hahn and Kenny and their dumb little "vision" that includes a bunch of losing. I dont fault Hostetler for that shit, and I think Hostetler is maybe the most competent person in their front office and someone who may start getting offers soon. Hopefully Jerry stays alive a while longer and keeps him part of the family though. He's very good at drafting. Not even about knowing who to pick, though I think he's good at that too, just knowing where a draft will go and how the psychology of that works. |
