This sorry excuse for a baseball team moved into second place in the reverse standing percentage points ahead of the god awful Cincinnati Reds. At least they’re doing something right. Way to go guys!

1. Baltimore -
2. White Sox .5
3. Cincinnati . 5
4. Kansas City 3
5. Miami 4

It's difficult to believe there is a worse team right now. I think they will be better as they call players up but right now there is no phase of the game at which they excell

There is no way they end up with the top overall pick. Unless the deliberately keep down guys who should probably already be in the majors given what is ahead of them.

Also isn't Mize the consensus number one?

Yes in this years draft. This thread is about the race for next years top pick.

This fucking bullpen has literally cost the team at least 25 losses.

I don't follow the drafts as closely, clearly, but it seems like Seth Beer was considered a lock for 1 around this time last year. Now he's not projected for the first round.

Nah. He was hyped because people liked his name.

Quote:
Had Beer finished out his senior year at Lambert, he was likely to be a can't-miss, high-first-round selection in the major league baseball draft, perhaps even the No. 1 pick. Instead, he's in Upstate South Carolina, wearing orange and purple and wearing out college pitching.

Not true. Lopez throws mid 90s, and Giolito can reach back for a little extra too from time to time.

alright maybe 60 year old Bobby Witt couldn't throw harder than Lopez, but he definitely could throw harder than Giolitto.

As bad as it looks right now, I'd be surprised if the White Sox do not show improvement in the 2nd half of the season. They are going to be promoting up more of their younger talent, and some of the youth on the roster could improve. Obviously, there isn't any guarantee of improvement, but while teams like Baltimore while probably try and get worse, a team like the White Sox stand a chance to improve just by using their younger players in the 2nd half.

Worst team in baseball. Shocked it took this long.

1. White Sox -
2. Baltimore 1
3. Cincinnati 2
4. Kansas City 2.5
5. San Diego 3.5

They've played some really bad teams. Hopefully they'll get back on track when the schedule gets tougher.

1. Baltimore -
2. White Sox .5
3. Kansas City 1
4. Cincinnati 1.5
5. Miami 2.5

Baltimore is a complete dumpster fire, and the GM is going to get fired at some point. Other than Machado, they have minimal assets and they overvalue them. I'd love to rent Adam Jones and push Heyward to the bench and Happ down to Iowa until September 1, but there's no way the Orioles will accept a reasonable offer.

Now that the draft is over it seems as good a time as any to update this. They've dropped all the way to 4th. How the hell did that happen?!? But hell they got the best player in the draft with the 4th pick this year so maybe it's a good omen!!!

1. Baltimore -
2. Kansas City 1
3. Cincinnati 1
4. White Sox 1.5
5. Miami 2.5

They'll be really lucky to get someone as good as Madrigal in the draft next year.

And that is entirely on Hahn. There is no bleeping excuse for that bull-pen. Or for that entire pitching staff for that matter. Rebuilding is one thing but the construction of that bull-pen is inexcusable.

Come-on. First of all they are just SO BLEEPING BAD so how can they ever be worse? They actually have maybe 6 legitimate major league players on their roster with maybe four additional possibilities in the offing. This is a team that is a total embarrassment to baseball. No outfield. No catching. Maybe four decent pitchers on the roster. That's 14 players on a 26 person roster. Thanks Reinny. Enjoy Vegas:(

We will look back on the OF of Tilson, Engel and Thompson as the worst grouping to ever play for the white sox.

Any outfield that had DeAza or Mackowiak out there is automatically worse.

Adam Dunn played a handful of games in LF for the Sox too.

In high school, I saw an outfield with Pasqua and Boston. Gallagher played center (he was a decent singles hitter that year).

I wonder if Engel, Tilson and Thompson combined will play as many games as De Aza or Mackowiak individually?

The positive is that they are all good defenders. In theory, we should have locked down d in the OF.

Tilson is still young and learning. I'm willing to give him somewhat of a pass. Engel has had a dreadful year with the glove. At least his offense is coming around a little. Thompson should be just a place holder/4th OF this season. He really has no business being on an MLB roster (outside of injury) once Eloy or somebody else comes up.

Once Garcia comes back up Thompson can either go back down or be used for pinch running.
