I loved Kelenic too but they flat out weren't drafting a prep player in the top 50. I'll be very surprised if they ever do. They clearly think they can develop their own pitchers without using a lot of draft capital. Jury's out on that. Bohm was gone. So they could not have drafted him. That left India, he of a 25% K-rate in NCAA. That's a big risk and I have zero issue with taking Madrigal before him. |

I'm not saying they drafted Madrigal with this in mind, but what the Sox need are guys who can get on base for Manny Ramirez. Madrigal is going to be able to do that. Anyone with hit contact skills and strike zone discipline is going to be on base a lot. If you are the type of person who kind of gets carried away worrying about the specifics of the future a future of the order of: 1. Madrigal 2. Moncada 3. Manny 4. Collins 5. Abreu has an allure that cannot be denied. |
