Escobar is on pace for a 4 fWAR season and Tatis Jr is a top prospect in all of baseball. Traded for a Lirano rental and the corpse of James Shields.

Tatis was 17 years old and hadn't played a fucking game yet, genius.

The Padres were begging for a team to take Shields off their hands. Kenny bid against himself for a bum.

They talked about this on M&H this morning. They program Bob's head. At any rate, is it not clear to anyone that Shields was one of the last decisions under the old strategy of win another for the old man before he kicks? Now JR is seemingly on board going a different way.

In his defense they traded him for James Shields who already was a horrible pitcher at the time. If they would have traded the peanut vendor for James Shields it would have been a bad trade.

Shields has a negative WAR since coming to the White Sox.

Kind of ironic Mike, since we know Fox and Friends and Briebart.com program your head.

Fox not for many year buddy. Brietbart never did.

Shields may be the poster child for a once dominant major league starter hanging on too long and shitting himself. He was done three years ago but made major bank still.

Shields is likely to have more wins for the Sox this year than Yu Darvish will have for the Cubs this year.

Cubs have another first place team, yet their fans can't help worrying about the White Sox. smh

What do you suppose Kenny Williams really does for the White Sox? Wash Reiny's car maybe?

It really doesn't matter and it is kind of shitty to ask in a demeaning way. It is Jerry's team, he loves Kenny and he works for him. Pretty much what else to say?

Agreed. Kenny is like a son to Jerry.

Kenny, Pax, Coop, Greg Walker, Pete Myers....all in the family

Tatis does hurt, but if memory serves, he was not even in their top 30 at the time of the trade. That was more dumb luck for the Padres and shitty luck for the Sox than some sort of shrewd Padres move.

He wasn’t considered to be a top 30 IFA when he signed, but I read a scouting report from the time period that threw out the possibility of massive upside based on significant physical maturation, which you can say for countless other teenage prospects, I suppose.

If I were the GM, I’d have parted with a more finished product - someone with at least a few years in the minors w/ respectable upside. With a 17 year old Tatis, you have absolutely no clue what you have. You set yourselves up to look like epic retards.

It was a horrible trade for the White Sox no matter the angle from which you view it, but I honestly don't think the Padres knew something the Sox didn't. I think they just go lucky.

Terrible trade

However. Isn’t Tatis out for the season with a torn up thumb. Out for season.
